I’m so pissed off with the Iemma government I’m almost considering voting Liberal (after the Greens, that is). If they’d put up anyone with an ounce of nous in the last election they couldn’t have helped but win. However, I think the Federal government has to take some responsibility for the disaster in public hospitals around the country (Tasmania is certainly no better, as my family’s recent experiences have shown). The constant wrangling between the states and Canberra has not helped, and nor has the federal government’s consistent underfunding of medical schools in Australian universities. (And treating foreign doctors as terrorists is hardly likely to encourage them to come here either). I am hoping the change of government might make a difference.
