@Jinjirrie: For some reason your comment was tagged as spam and I didn't find it until a few minutes ago. The unfollow wasn't a decision of Mr Rudd's Evil Minions but a problem with Twitter's anti-spam robot which affected many people.

@jasonwryan: Agreed, @DowningStreet does very well. As I've mentioned somewhere before, the role is handled by three different people in Gordon Brown's digital media team, but they manage to inject real humanity into the Twitterstream by making personal observations like "Cabinet meeting now closing at Number 10 on a gloriously clear, blue and sunny autumn day in the capital."

Re your comment about the disappeared followers, last night, when I first followed the PM twitter, he had several hundred followers and was following about half of them.

About an hour after I followed him, I noticed he had disappeared from my following list – on checking, it looked like he had lost all his followers in and out.

I re-followed him and watched his followers list increase rapidly once more. This morning, he’s following 154 out of his 333 followers.

Alas, his minions have not deigned to follow me. But then, cats don’t vote.
