@Sweet Sister Morphine: Thank you. Yes, while the gathering of many disparate opponents in opposition to Teh Filterz is perhaps the first example of hyperconnected politics in Australia, it has also shown how few people have anything but the most superficial understandin of how politics actually works.

ISP-level filtering is still an official ALP policy. Senator Conroy's refusal to discuss it could well be designed in the hope that everyone will forget about it -- particularly if there's a few high-profile stories declaring the battle over.

That said, there has been a subtle change in the wording of Conroy's announcements which gives him an "out" should the trials fail to deliver a ringing endorsement. More on that another time.

Thanks for putting that out there. I had to explain to somebody the other day that the upcoming "March In March" isn't now totally redundant, mandatory filtering isn't old news/dead in the water, and this isn't the bit where we have some big ol' aesthetically pleasing parade, discretely* modelled on Triumph des Willens through the streets, set off some fireworks, declare a national holiday and rest on our laurels.

Sorry, got a bit carried away there, but you get my point (hopefully).
