Heh! @jonoabroad @Cacotopos @franksting I’m deeply cynical of CCTV’s achievements. But I’m interviewing the Ipswich guy late this week.

Doing journalism. Because I can. I have a whole bottle of journalism, in fact.

via TweetDeck

Background: I did a “Patch Monday” podcast in February on how the UK’s CCTV achieved SFA. http://bit.ly/aaCI9p

via TweetDeck

Maybe I’m wrong. Maybe CCTV surveillance does work, if done right. http://bit.ly/aUCtXw

via TweetDeck

@thebankchannel I agree, not so flash from TLS just then. I rated it a 2 out of 5 on the feedback call. I’ll see if it’s fixed tomorrow.

Congratulations Gabriel McGrath for the best comment in today’s Crikey email. http://bit.ly/8Y5ob0 You’ll have to scroll.

via TweetDeck

@Telstra Well, the fault’s reported, and I walk past that spot a couple times a day, so we’ll see how efficient you are. ;)

via TweetDeck in reply to Telstra

I’m guessing the script says, if they have to wait for the computer, to ask me how my day is going. Never sounds sincere.

via TweetDeck

@Telstra Er, thank you. A shame you can’t just email them the details. I am of course on “longer than normal” hold now.

via TweetDeck in reply to Telstra

@Telstra Near 5 or 7 Tupper St, Enmore NSW, cable pit cover caved in due to vehicle driving over it. Fresh damage.

via TweetDeck

Dear Telstra, if I’m reporting damage to your ducts, I don’t have a phone number to report a fault on. Life is not your IVR categories.

Mobile: Enmore Rd; lunch; King St errands; remainder TBA.

“Apolitical: A Short Film” via @expectproblems about failed parties, kinda http://youtu.be/nHghl7Xj…

You are no longer a pangolin, Sir.

RT @Cocodmonkey: They also do Timeshifted viewing figures. It is about a week delayed from the live screening.

via TweetDeck

Maybe if you sat an aquarium on a Segway, you could avoid having a seat altogether.

via TweetDeck

@jonoabroad TV ratings are only live viewing AFAIK. It’s about views of the channel, not views of the program. Ads are channel sells.

via TweetDeck in reply to jonoabroad

More people watched “Midsomer Murders” than “The X Factor” last night. This proves something. http://bit.ly/aBrXHS

via TweetDeck

@jasonlangenauer Some of us had to endure all that the first time around. You should pity me.

via TweetDeck

Like a fish needs a bicycle?

via TweetDeck

It can’t possibly be a coincidence that “gin” and “gun” are only one letter different. They go so well together!

New “Patch Monday” podcast at @zdnetaustralia: “Parliament’s poor porn probe exposed” inc @mspecht http://bit.ly/9cHZrY

via TweetDeck

@baldpom Gawd hardly a “theme”. Just mentioning one media release then passing on someone else’s follow-up.

via TweetDeck in reply to baldpom

@jonoabroad It is a real course, actually. I did it for a group of internal comms people at IBM in, oh, 2004 I think.

Hah! “Samsung LED TV ads called ‘misleading’ by UK authority” http://bit.ly/QNegX HT @mtats

via TweetDeck

Maybe I should sell Samsung my “how to write like a human” half-day session. They certainly need it.

@jonoabroad Sydney forecast says “shower or two”, 60% chance of rain. I am always an optimist. http://bit.ly/bh7EOq

via TweetDeck in reply to jonoabroad

@ApostrophePong So did issue you with a challenge last night? Did you break the rules? http://bit.ly/ci8vSj

via TweetDeck

Tue plan: Not have a cold. Failing that, Plan B: Quiet day doing client webby-work catch-up, then enjoy watching the rain from somewhere.

RT @SnarkyPlatypus: Pressers should only be held 3:30 to 4pm on Friday afternoon with stupid questions resulting in beheading of journalist.

via TweetDeck

I’m reminded of Tanya Plibersek’s 2007 essay on John Howard’s use of “elite” as pejorative. http://bit.ly/bHNt0u

via TweetDeck

A remarkable essay on class, power and perception by @JohnBirmingham http://bit.ly/ctxxn6 Well put, JB.

via TweetDeck

@duncanriley Absolutely serious. Note ACMA spam fines of up to $16m listed here. http://bit.ly/99COtE

via TweetDeck in reply to duncanriley

Why does ACMA deal out more serious penalties to spammers than to racists on network TV, hmmm?

via TweetDeck

ACMA: Sam Newman’s AFL Footy Show did “ridicule”, Channel Nine to pay $200k if future breach. http://bit.ly/bNXmh2

@SnarkyPlatypus Bonjour. Je suis ennuyé. J’ai un rhume. Il doit y avoir des répercussions. Et vous?

via TweetDeck in reply to SnarkyPlatypus

Sort of emerges.

Oh I knew that tweet would do it! It’s like two eggs and a Mars bar. http://bit.ly/bHt4by

And @AntonyGreenABC just pointed out that the Predictotron says Family First is ahead again in SA. http://bit.ly/d9fnfn

via TweetDeck

Oh, that wasn’t @AntonyGreenABC who said that. Probably.

via TweetDeck

OH: “Fuckin’ oath, man, I was fuckin’ devastated eh? Pissed off? Man! Tell these fuckheads to go fuck themselves, the cunts!”

via TweetDeck

And @AntonyGreenABC has just mysteriously materialised at my elbow again. How does he do this?

via TweetDeck

@CPKHarris Oh yes! That was the Jetstar / Powderfinger “competition” scam. http://bit.ly/92wIXk There’s another one?

via TweetDeck in reply to CPKHarris

@CPKHarris The way you describe it doesn’t ring a bell, but perhaps I’m misreading how you’re using ?

RT @deptofinternets: You know, I really don’t get the “inside-beltway” hate; especially from the excruciatingly insular IT and SocMedia set.

via TweetDeck

This is annoying. For years I’ve respected @LaurieOakes’ work. But now, seeing this inside-beltway mentality live… I’m so disappointed.

via TweetDeck

Poor @LaurieOakes and other political journos. The independents won’t conform to their daily deadline needs. Diddums.

via TweetDeck

@LaurieOakes Yes, Laurie, two weeks is SHORT when you’re not enmeshed in it. You are in the Canberra Bubble. You can’t see it.

via TweetDeck in reply to LaurieOakes

@R_Chirgwin So you’re saying @LaurieOakes says “we have no government” and “it’s all chaos” WITHOUT being on drugs? WTF?

via TweetDeck in reply to R_Chirgwin

RT @delperro_1: @LaurieOakes sniffing ether from the aus flag… [See! That’s REAL political journalism!]

via TweetDeck

@ericalloyd An appeal? Absolutely! There should be a public foundation, in fact, to pay for the drugs. The Walkleys should sort it.

via TweetDeck in reply to ericalloyd

RT @joshgnosis: Do we want everyone to be Hunter S. Thompson? [It couldn’t do any harm. Imagine @LaurieOakes on meth and whiskey!]

via TweetDeck

Obviously “in” was meant to be “if”. Sorry. I was distracted.

via TweetDeck

The standard of journalism would be vastly improved in journalists were paid enough to afford decent drugs.

via TweetDeck

Hah! Cartoonist @jonkudelka’s entry to the Walkley Awards. http://bit.ly/966dkR

via TweetDeck

RT @jeamland: Doing lines of journalism? Or is that marketing? [Definitely marketing. Journalists can’t afford that kinda shit.]
