Fuck. @TweetDeck bug! Global filter, clear filters, cancel… but the filters are still cleared. I AM NOW SEEING THE UNFILTERED UNIVERSE!

RT @eztephen: Twitter needs a word-block function. [It already exists in clients like TweetDeck and Nambu. Leave it in clients, not core.]

via TweetDeck

@helenperris It’s OK. @smperris is safe. The power drill has never done anything for me.

via TweetDeck in reply to helenperris

RT @smperris: I get to use my power drill, and I’ve always been good at following instructions. [There’s someone’s fantasy right there.]

HLMenckenBot We must respect other’s religion, but only to the extent we respect his theory that his wife is beautiful and his children smart

Well this should save newspapers, eh? http://post.ly/1AOQ4

via Posterous

But we DO “stop the boats”. The Navy intercepts every single one. And then we put the people in concentration camps. Classy, eh?

via TweetDeck

RT @wolfcat: It is tied to the same formula which says how much dirt we export is tied to the interest rates of the dollar and unicorns.

Can someone explain to me again how the number of people leaving foreign countries as refugees is up to the Australian government?

via TweetDeck

Quick, everyone! This will undo the damage! http://youtu.be/U2M7KMzb…

@kcarruthers @SnarkyPlatypus “Velvet glove”? Like being fisted by a goth?

via TweetDeck in reply to kcarruthers

RT @jasonlangenauer: Was that when it used to have the big fibreglass fist on the awning? Whatever did that fist symbolise? [Yes. Dunno.]

via TweetDeck

@neilsgardiner I make many assumptions about the world. Most of them are wrong, or in vain.

via TweetDeck

Before they cleaned it up @daev one night I was offered a NSW police ID badge for sale. It was real. And relatively inexpensive.

Wondering why anyone with any sense of self-respect would go to the Beresford Hotel voluntarily.

via TweetDeck

A band is playing downstairs. It is shit.

via TweetDeck

Oh OK. Hillary Clinton and then the ARIAs. I know when it’s time to give up.

Is it possible, ever, to document dawning adolescent sexuality without being accused of child pornography? And yet… http://arseh.at/1kh

via TweetDeck

@andrew_hedge Not your fault. Telstra released the Windows-based ROM update before the OTA version. Poor release control IMO.

I should do the disclaimer. This is the HTC Desire I was given as part of the “social review” program.

via TweetDeck

Yes @anthonybaxter the Froyo tethering works just fine using whatever this Telstra HTC Desire downloaded. I’m using it now. Stable so far.

via TweetDeck

@daev I have put little thought into the Lowenbrau Proposal, alas. @SnarkyPlatypus @jasonlangenauer

via TweetDeck in reply to daev

Well I’ve made my decision now, about both things. No thanks to you.

via TweetDeck

Pondering where to go, and what to write when I get there.

Mobile: Enmore Rd; shopping; back home again. There will probably be a further journey straight after that, but who wants warm eggs?

via TweetDeck

To be honest, it’s nearly 3 hours since I listened to “Twisted Wire” and made a comment. My Sunday afternoon mood has moved on from the NBN.

via TweetDeck

@RobertCandelori It’s nothing do do with Conroy. I believe it a fair comparison. Infrastructure on which other people run services.

via TweetDeck in reply to RobertCandelori

@RobertCandelori Love it. It’s “taxpayers” money but “state-owned” “monopoly”. Like the Pacific Highway? This is yawnworthy ideology again.

via TweetDeck in reply to RobertCandelori

Sigh. This is going to trigger another round of “debate”, all along party / ideological lines. Très boring.

via TweetDeck

@RobertCandelori But whatever the figure, I have no problems with governments spending money on infrastructure. With proper oversight.

via TweetDeck in reply to RobertCandelori

@RobertCandelori My point was about the $43b figure being out of date, and even if correct it’s not all a “taxpayer” component.

via TweetDeck in reply to RobertCandelori

@TurnbullMalcolm I am genuinely trying to understand why the figure would still be $43b for the total build cost.

via TweetDeck in reply to TurnbullMalcolm

@TurnbullMalcolm Surely the figure no longer $43b, given the NBN Co / Telstra deal? At least that’s what NBN Co is saying.

via TweetDeck in reply to TurnbullMalcolm

@andrew_hedge This was with a Telstra-supplied HTC Desire, following the procedure at http://arseh.at/1k5

via TweetDeck in reply to egadheg

@hollingsworth Of course the answer is to close-mic the speaker(s) to begin with. GIGO, etc. ;)

via TweetDeck in reply to hollingsworth

@hollingsworth Equaliser to knock off some top end (room echo is mostly high frequencies), The Levelator to compress core voice frequencies.

via TweetDeck

RT @deptofinternets: Can’t you just take an old keynote recording and put a new title card on it? Hyperconnected something something VRML.

via TweetDeck

Cleaning up the audio of @mpesce’s keynote at yesterday’s dual-hashtag thing. Ping @MiA_Will @kcarruthers @hollingsworth

@SnarkyPlatypus Bonjour. Je suis maintenant dans le futur! L’avenir glorieux! Va me chercher un chiffon! Et vous?

via TweetDeck in reply to SnarkyPlatypus

@bernietb I did the download over Wi-Fi. You can do it via 3G if you want, but you’d be paying for the data.

via TweetDeck in reply to bernietb

Correct @bondles9 “data intact” as in photos, message history, email, all apps etc. Whereas Telstra’s installer wipes the phone.

via TweetDeck

I know zero about iOS updates @bernietb, but this was ~92MB download. Telstra ROM and its Windows installer was, from memory, ~170MB.

via TweetDeck

Upgrade of HTC Desire to Android 2.2 Froyo using over-the-air method completed OK. Data intact. Elapsed time ~30 mins including download.

via TweetDeck

When @TurnbullMalcolm talks about oversight of expenditure I think he’s on better ground, because Labor is weak there.

via TweetDeck

Two misleading numbers from @TurnbullMalcolm so far: “$43b of taxpayers’ money” and he wildly underestimates cost of fast rail.

via TweetDeck

Listening to @TurnbullMalcolm talking NBN on @phildobbie’s “Twisted Wire” podcast. http://arseh.at/1gk

via TweetDeck

Oh @DDsD I should clarify, not the Telstra ROM but the official OTA update, what I’m downloading now.

via TweetDeck

Very impressed with MyBackup for Android from RerWare. Slick. Fast. Obvious. http://arseh.at/1k4

via TweetDeck

@Jester_Jeff Thanks for those extra references, should bring me up to speed reasonably quickly.

via TweetDeck in reply to Jester_Jeff

@DDsD That’s OK, I don’t intend rooting the phone at all. I don’t wish to add further to my sysadmin workload by going off-piste.

via TweetDeck in reply to DDsD

Yes @DDsD it’ll be the official download that the phone is proffering. I will follow the instructions to the letter, and critique same.

via TweetDeck

@jim_croft As far as I can tell, christwire.org is a completely real and serious website. I find it… fascinating.

via TweetDeck in reply to jim_croft

Sun plan: Upgrade HTC Desire to Android 2.2; remainder TBA, depending on success of that first step, but a walk would be nice.

I did not know of this book on cyberattack law etc, @Jester_Jeff, so thanks. http://is.gd/gN56G The area is a 2nd-level zone for me.
