@KeithConlon O hai, I see they’ve let you loose on Twitter. I hope you’ve had your shots.

via TweetDeck

@alexkidman Maybe you and I are just antisocial or something. For me it was Yet Another System To Maintain. Enough of them already.

via TweetDeck in reply to alexkidman

I’m late, but “Anonymous versus the arms dealers of the cyber war” by @BernardKeane is a great read. http://arseh.at/4q6

via TweetDeck

@jasonlangenauer I can see some value in LinkedIn for keeping track of a vast array of contacts for journalism. But can I be arsed?

via TweetDeck

@LucyOnMyShouldr @jplonie As far as I know there are no cots at Bunjaree Cottages. http://arseh.at/4q5 Could bring one? @R_Chirgwin?

via TweetDeck

Maybe I should just activate the business name I already have in reserve, Skank Media.

via TweetDeck

You’d think that LinkedIn would have a better way of dealing with freelancers who don’t have their own company.

via TweetDeck

“Patch Monday” podcast filed! And I’ve rearranged things so I don’t have to write anything major tonight. Of such small victories…

via TweetDeck

@dananimal Apparently this scrubland near Wentworth Falls is full of antechinus. Cute little critters, and confident inside the cottage.

via TweetDeck in reply to dananimal

@R_Chirgwin I haven’t seen an antichinus outdoors yet, just as they scuttle past me in the kitchen. Lots of birds though.

via TweetDeck in reply to R_Chirgwin

Wow this is amazing, @R_Chirgwin. This entire forest is FULL OF WOOD!

via TweetDeck

@R_Chirgwin My firelighting fail was not having enough mid-sized pieces ‘tween kindling and the bloody great log. My vent work was fine.

via TweetDeck in reply to R_Chirgwin

@intrepidfear Nah, I won’t burn the spiders. They’re generally good critters. And besides, they don’t burn very long.

via TweetDeck in reply to intrepidfear

Considering what else I might set fire to while I’m at it. The list is getting fairly long.

via TweetDeck

Stoking the fireplace.

via TweetDeck

I also wonder if that fucking great black spider will again scuttle across my keyboard in the dark, scaring the shit out of me.

via TweetDeck

I wonder if I’ll be visited by an antechinus again tonight. There’s been one every night so far. http://arseh.at/4q4

via TweetDeck

If only I had sherry.

via TweetDeck

@R_Chirgwin If I don’t write at least one article tonight then I have two to write before midday tomorrow. But since I’m an early riser…

via TweetDeck in reply to R_Chirgwin

I’m fascinated by the topics that trigger the most interaction. Rice, it seems, is one of them.

via TweetDeck

@R_Chirgwin My firelighting skills yesterday were… crap. It’s been too long. Maybe I just need to prove myself with flames.

via TweetDeck in reply to R_Chirgwin

Important questions #1: With a 9C minimum tonight, shall I light a fire? #2: Can I be arsed writing two articles tonight?

via TweetDeck

@sroc I’m reasonably sure that cottaging doesn’t happen here, but then the nights have been cold.

via TweetDeck in reply to sroc

@gnoll110 @smperris Maybe I’m unadventurous, but I tend to use basmati rice for Indian etc food and jasmine for south-east Asian.

via TweetDeck

It’s true, @kofeyh, nothing has changed. I was told the other day that I’ve been just like this for at least 15 year.

via TweetDeck

@neilsgardiner Yes, much pricing is arbitrary and “brand value” but natural products also have a quality scale, at the farmer end anyway.

via TweetDeck

By the way, I’m back at the cottage again now, so I’m in a better position to actively ignore criticism and generally be an arsehole.

via TweetDeck

@jonoabroad Did I say I disliked cooking shows? I haven’t really watched them, so I don’t really have an opinion of the shows themselves.

via TweetDeck in reply to jonoabroad

@jonoabroad I agree, you need to experience the difference to tell the difference in rice. Like “red wine” and “white wine” 20y ago?

via TweetDeck in reply to jonoabroad

@smperris Koala rice simply doesn’t work properly in a rice cooker. I suspect the surface texture leads to clumping. Taste, possibly bland.

via TweetDeck in reply to smperris

@Maab You chose to follow me. You can fuck off any time you like. Plus I only complain about things I know about and respect others’ skills.

via TweetDeck in reply to Maab

It’s not the price, you arsehats, it’s the quality. Remind me to never let you cook. And cooking shows rate. Go figure.

via TweetDeck

I assume everyone takes this Subaru 4WDs the 10 minutes to Katoomba. Or, as some folk here exhibit, they can’t tell good rice from bad.

via TweetDeck

I tell a lie. They have Kuala brand jasmine rice. Previous experience tells me it is shit.

via Cloudhopper

There is soy sauce, actually. Fountain brand. Kill me now.

via Cloudhopper

They have 20+ varieties of coffee but no jasmine rice of any kind.

via Cloudhopper

In Wentworth Falls, the bok choy is 1 expensive 2 shit.

via Cloudhopper

Gel. Hair, not lubricating. Initial perceptions are proved very wrong.

via Cloudhopper

Cloud computing is all well and good, except when the country’s best telco can’t deliver a data signal into the biggest building in town.

via Cloudhopper

This internet thing is a pile of shit

via Cloudhopper

Mobile: Walk to Wentworth Falls; lunch somewhere; shopping somewhere else; walk back to the cottage. Very excitement.

via TweetDeck

“Patch Monday” podcast production all but done. Lovely. Running backups before doing anything else, as is my procedure.

via TweetDeck

@jonoabroad I’m not sure what the difference is between practical and pragmatic but I like the flexibility and cashflow benefits of leasing.

via TweetDeck in reply to jonoabroad

@deanlk I’m not sure that I do enough video recoding to need specialist hardware, but ta for the tip.

via TweetDeck in reply to deanlk

@jonoabroad This machine will be upgraded in May or June, when the lease ends. I am a patient man until then.

via TweetDeck in reply to jonoabroad

It’s true, my 3yo MacBook Pro does not like re-encoding multiple HD video files at once while I’m also working on other stuff.

via TweetDeck

My “Weekly Wrap” posts are essentially links to all the stuff I’ve done in the media during the week. I presume them to be useful.

via TweetDeck

New blog post: “Weekly Wrap 39”, with a photo of the view from my front door today. http://arseh.at/4px

via TweetDeck

@Bafflegabble Oh, that does look rather a lot, doesn’t it. But the podcast will be quick to edit this week, and the articles are easy ones.

via TweetDeck

Sun plan, unordered: Produce 1 x “Patch Monday” podcast, 2 x Crikey stories, 2 x blog posts; shopping in Wentworth Falls; quiet night.

via TweetDeck

Demonstrating my l’esprit de l’escalier. Sigh. But it’s such a wonderful term. http://arseh.at/4pw

via TweetDeck

Hello Sunday. Are you starting this early to make up for not tweeting a Saturday? The idea was to catch up on sleep, you know, not this.
