The sound of the rain in the forest is delightful.

@moldor On my current arrangements, overruns are 5c / megabyte. So not an option for burning maybe a gigabyte or more.

via TweetDeck in reply to moldor

Recording done. You’ll probably be able to hear that on “AM” tomorrow morning.

via TweetDeck

OK, I have my head around this report. All right, Mr DeMille, I’m ready for my close-up.

via TweetDeck

Reading a Productivity Commission report. As you do. This is all part of Being Consulted.

via TweetDeck

Being consulted.

via TweetDeck

RT @Queen_UK: Off to the Euro Summit. twitpic.com/7q648y [I approve of your plan, Your Majesty.]

via TweetDeck

I need interwebs for, as you put it, “production goodness”, @jonoabroad. Research. Plus other work. 800MB for 3 working days in the bush.

via TweetDeck

Is this where I mention that bandwidth shortage prevents me producing a new “The 9pm Edict” podcast tonight? That WAS my plan.

via TweetDeck

@Telstra It’s a real shame. If you could sell me a second data pack on top of the first, I’d buy it right now. Oh well. Have a good one!

via TweetDeck

@Telstra Heh! I feel better already! :) Nah, I’ll just have to reschedule until I’m back in Sydney / can make other plans. Thanks again.

via TweetDeck in reply to Telstra

Indeed the wrong creek, @jeffunity. I’m in bushland, need data overnight and first thing. Longer-term is another issue, of course.

via TweetDeck

@Telstra Thanks, Dylan. I’ll bear those deals in mind, but that still doesn’t help me, here in bushland, solve tomorrow’s production needs.

via TweetDeck in reply to Telstra

Since you asked, @max_au, yes it says that @Telstra charges casual data usage at $2 per megabyte. Producing, I use around 1.2GB+ per day.

via TweetDeck

The @Telstra staff have all tried to be helpful. They just don’t have a product to sell. Now, to rearrange my production schedule… Sigh.

via TweetDeck

@Telstra Is there any better option if I wave my “I have an ABN, so I’m a business” flag?

via TweetDeck in reply to Telstra

@Telstra Thanks, Dylan. Well, thanks for the quick confirmation, at least. Please pass on that these limits are unworkable for me.

via TweetDeck in reply to Telstra

Hmmm… Well, @garystark @moldor, if I was misinformed by the @Telstra phone person then I will be even more unhappy. And so will he.

via TweetDeck

I’ve kinda said this about eleventy time already, @moldor, but @Telstra does not provision more than 12GB onto a phone.

via TweetDeck

This is a post-paid account, @moldor. Recharge and expiry are not relevant concepts.

via TweetDeck

It’s somewhat silly, @Telstra. I was there, ready to buy data at outrageous rates ‘cos I have deadlines, and you refused to sell to me.

via TweetDeck

No, @TimNoonan, this is the entire stupidity of it. @Telstra will not provision more than 12GB onto a phone. Full stop. Must get dongle.

via TweetDeck

It’s not just the phone, @jonoabroad, it’s also providing for my laptop when… all sorts of places. Why need another device? /cc Telstra

via TweetDeck

Fuck. I’m now afraid to do anything online, @Telstra. Less that 900MB left. Can’t buy data. Can’t see when I can get to a shop in time.

via TweetDeck

Annoyed with @Telstra’s arbitrary limit of 12GB data on a phone. Means I can’t solve my heavier-than-usual tethered data usage tonight.

via TweetDeck

@R_Chirgwin Two-hour charge complete. Battery at 50.4V. Just me and Tea Tree Cottage tonight, or whichever it was, right?

via TweetDeck in reply to R_Chirgwin

@R_Chirgwin 48.4V on the battery, still raining steadily with no blue sky. Two hours of generator, I’d say?

via TweetDeck in reply to R_Chirgwin

@mpesce You could maybe just look at their avatars instead?

via TweetDeck in reply to mpesce

mpesce Those of you who have Twitter handles that bear no relation to your names make it confuserating for those of us who try to remember them.

Lying down to read @crikey_news, because it leaves one’s hands free.

via TweetDeck

Well, @oberonsghost, the OED cites “webinar” as “US business” in origin, dated to 1997. No specifics as to who we should kill, tho.

via TweetDeck

“Our research shows that even if there is sentient life, they might have a banking system anyway.”

via TweetDeck

Nice to see Professor von Arsehat explaining some scientificish stuff again, @firstgodonmoon

via TweetDeck

Well, @ApostrophePong, if CERN can’t keep track of its bosons then it shouldn’t be allowed to have any. And they have to share.

via TweetDeck

And the “webinar” is done. An audio recording will be available some time tomorrow from @technologyspec but I’ll pimp it hard.

via TweetDeck

RT @leslienassar: As an older gent, you need to get those factoids checked regularly, @stilgherrian. [Yeah I know a guy with rubber gloves.]

via TweetDeck

Final chatty planning bits with the organizers. We’ll start shortly.

via TweetDeck

RT @swearyanthony: is the verb form “to webinate”? [No, it’s not, it’s “websturbate”.]

via TweetDeck

Only 25 mins until @technologyspec webinar “Board with security?” arseh.at/ou8 I even have pants on, @charispalmer

via TweetDeck

RT @ApostrophePong: Higgs boson ‘to be found’ at Cern - arseh.at/p06 [Well they should put it back!]

via TweetDeck

@CatBonfiglioli I like almost-personal. And a big hi to you too, Catriona.

via TweetDeck in reply to CatBonfiglioli

CSO: “Carrier IQ security risks overblown?” arseh.at/p03

via TweetDeck

Goodness me. A Christmas email with simply EVERYONE’S email addresses included! Thanks, Unnamed Internet Newsletter.

via TweetDeck

@natecochrane @mpesce If they’re snorting things during the webinar THE LEAST THEY CAN DO IS SHARE!

via TweetDeck in reply to natecochrane

The whipbirds are very rambunctious in this steady rain. Assuming it’s not a lyrebird pretending to be a whipbird.

via TweetDeck

@PointZeroOne Well, I use Keynote. Only the gods know what they use over at @technologyspec, so I sent them PowerPoint.

via TweetDeck in reply to PointZeroOne

RT @mpesce: I’ve always been told to make cocktails for the webinar. Strong ones. [This is sound advice. Alas, it’s too far to the pub.]

via TweetDeck

I have made “slides” for the “webinar”. Apparently that’s what you do. Such an odd ritual.

via TweetDeck

@jplonie Oh that. I think I will to stay a little more on-topic.

via TweetDeck in reply to jplonie

@franksting “Packs”? Is that something you told me about when I was drunk? /cc @zbender

via TweetDeck in reply to franksting

Preparing a few slides for the @technologyspec “webinar”. This one, at 1200 AEDT today. arseh.at/ou8

via TweetDeck

@BernardKeane @marcusod Now I need to figure out what FSS is, rather than FFS. I do so seriously need some sleep.

via TweetDeck in reply to BernardKeane

“Social media uprisings”? Oh FSS! Someone get me a box of ketamine! arseh.at/p02 HT @marcusod

via TweetDeck

RT @SBSNews: The hunt has resumed for a NSW bush fugitive after a policeman was shot … bit.ly/ss9bNe [Not me. Truly.]

via TweetDeck

OH: “I’d say horrible things about you, but you’re doing a webinar so you’ve already been punished.”

via TweetDeck

Even in the city, I’d prefer to listen to the world around me than predictable political bleating, @matt_levinson @joshgnosis

via TweetDeck

To be honest, I find listening to / watching linear media to be a very inefficient way of finding out what’s going on.

via TweetDeck

What else would I listen to, @matt_levinson? The beautiful sounds of the forest outside. /cc @SnarkyPlatypus @BernardKeane @joshgnosis

via TweetDeck

Nearly everyone in Crikey’s Quality Journalism Project says they listen to Fran Kelly. arseh.at/p00 Should I also sheepify myself?

via TweetDeck

Indeed, @NewtonMark, I always chuckle when Senator Conroy and the Ranga in Chief cite Goldman Sachs advice as if it’s a Good Thing.

via TweetDeck

The @technologyspec “webinar” “Board with Security?” is 1200 AEDT. You can still register at arseh.at/ou8

via TweetDeck

Thu plan: Write for ABC (done); prep for and do @technologyspec security “webinar”; planning for “Patch Monday” podcast; collapse, probably.

via TweetDeck

Just remember, folks, NBN Co Business Case is “based on advice from Goldman Sachs”. arseh.at/ozz

via TweetDeck

The setting is whether InMails / Introductions notifications are immediate or a weekly digest, @arcadiagt5. Changed to immediate.

via TweetDeck

Dear LinkedIn, will you NEVER learn? Emailing to say you’ve changed a setting to one YOU want, so I have to change it back. Sigh.

via TweetDeck

The morning rain is quite lovely, and almost makes up for having had maybe 90 minutes sleep.

via TweetDeck

I decided to leave out the cosmopolitan = cocktail bit, @jeamland @oberonsghost @jonoabroad, because it’s just a bit too obvious.

via TweetDeck

ABC The Drum piece filed, with lots of links and too many words.

via TweetDeck

Oh well, I posted a comment back. I probably shouldn’t feed to trolls. But I am genuinely intrigued.

via TweetDeck

@trib Indeed, where “documentation” is “pointing to some random person who said something, somewhere”.

via TweetDeck in reply to trib

Apparently “cosmopolitan” is a bad thing, and political control of the media is good because it can prevent the cosmopolitan.

via TweetDeck

How sweet. The Nazi visiting my website has responded to my question, and provided additional anti-Semitic arsehattery. arseh.at/ozw

via TweetDeck

@drueyjay I believe I’ve had some sleep, a couple hours maybe.

via TweetDeck in reply to drueyjay

Too many words. I’ve written too many words.

via TweetDeck

Reading consolidated legislation, which continues from reading judgements earlier. Whacko.

via TweetDeck

Idiots. How can a cannonball go “rocketing” anywhere? Try careening, hurtling etc. arseh.at/ozp /cc @johnemcintyre

via TweetDeck

Having now read the judgement, I’ve determined that most of the reporting on the case has got it wrong. I am not the least bit surprised.

via TweetDeck

Mind you, @unpronounceable, reading legal judgements at 0300 is a potential cure for insomnia.

via TweetDeck

Oh well, I might as well potter through some research for an article I’m writing this morning.

via TweetDeck

Goodevening, Mistress Insomnia. [bows] It seems you are in charge again tonight.
