Me at @zdnetaustralia: “Will speed kill the next tech revolution?” zdnet.com/au/will-speed-…

via Janetter for Mac

“The ghost of policy past will haunt the Coalition’s broadband future”, writes @joshgnosis zdnet.com/au/the-ghost-o…

via Janetter for Mac

I think @jonoabroad @fictillius @wolfcat @WarWraith and others are crazy-brave to read those comments.

via Janetter for Mac

Ah, story filed for @zdnetaustralia. And thus the main slab of the working day ends. I hope.

via Janetter for Mac

@wolfcat @jonoabroad I have yet to gather the intestinal fortitude to even look at the comments. There’s more than 600 now.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to wolfcat

@thatsjazz2 @ABCthedrum Is an (alleged) Murdoch link relevant elsewhere in discussions? Of course! Can’t mention everything in every story.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to thatsjazz2

@thatsjazz2 My @ABCthedrum yarn was (only) my opinion of the effectiveness of Turnbull’s pitch on Tuesday. It’s not relevant to THAT, no.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to thatsjazz2

@simonhackett @AshGhebranious @crikey_news Thanks, Simon. It’s tough choosing a few key things from 50pp of docs to mention in 1500 words.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to simonhackett

@_jort @AshGhebranious Oh ta for that, another thing to watch.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to _jort

@scott_thewspot @ABCthedrum Yeah I’m an idiot, and say “yes” when editors pass on requests or commission stories. I am a word-puppet. ;)

via Janetter for Mac in reply to scott_thewspot

@AshGhebranious Heh! Yeah @simonhackett mentioned some interesting things like that the other day. The next six months will be interesting.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to AshGhebranious

Gawd, my little yarn on @ABCthedrum has more than 600 comments on it. This is… surprising.

via Janetter for Mac

@lucisam @scott_thewspot I’m not happy being compared with Grattan. Oh well. But, as I said, @BernardKeane was elsewhere so I was assigned.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to lucisam

@thatsjazz2 @ABCthedrum You’re saying I should’ve mentioned that the press conference was at Foxtel? That had already been said elsewhere.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to thatsjazz2

I should’ve covered PonyConAU.

via Janetter for Mac

Looking back through column ideas to see what I might be angry about today for 600 words.

via Janetter for Mac

@spandaslui It’s fine, I’ll just have to channel my anger into a new story idea. ;)

via Janetter for Mac in reply to spandaslui

I have fallen off the news bicycle and I’m not sure whether it’s @spandaslui’s fault or just God’s.

via Janetter for Mac

@JackGJessen @ABCthedrum Oh for sure, butI didn’t see such an instant or strong reaction at the time, so I used geekdom in the narrative.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to JackGJessen

@Mandsst Wireless is used where the population density is too low and the fibre runs too long and expensive. Wireless isn’t “cheap” as such.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to Mandsst

@Dream_Brother_ That’s because the substance article came the next day, when I’d had time to read everything. crikey.com.au/2013/04/10/bro…

via Janetter for Mac in reply to Dream_Brother_

@Telstra Thanks for your suggestions, Ash, but as I think you have seen everything got sorted out. Thanks.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to Telstra

@lesleyanne12 @ABCthedrum Yes, but I chose to concentrate on one aspect of the Twitter traffic to illustrate a point I was making.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to lesleyanne12

@JackGJessen @ABCthedrum I’m fairly sure I just attributed some views to some sections of geekdom, but discussed wider issues.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to JackGJessen

@thatsjazz2 Hmmm… I’ve been using “pwned” in columns for a while, and @ABCthedrum left it in [shrugs].

via Janetter for Mac in reply to thatsjazz2

@eleanorbloom II’ll have to see where @AlanKohler and @TurnbullMalcolm’s analysis differ. But I’m on other things today.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to eleanorbloom

@engochick Flying Fish was lovely yesterday, and the Dimension Data crew were fun presenters. A good session.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to engochick

@kimogrady1 @eleanorbloom Hmmm. I didn’t intend to say risk analysis was “gut feeling”. That sentence was a bit rushed. could be better.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to EX_V19

@snare Oh that’s OK then. I don’t get @ABCthedrum or @crikey_news’ voicemails. Can I say “cyber” at you a few times?

via Janetter for Mac in reply to snare

@mpesce Thanks. Benefits of fibre can be quantified, yes. I don’t think they have been, clearly, in the debate so far? Well, not lately…

via Janetter for Mac in reply to mpesce

@Mandsst @crikey_news @TurnbullMalcolm There’s HEAPS on the NBN Co website about what they’re doing, also ACCAN. accan.org.au/index.php?opti…

via Janetter for Mac in reply to Mandsst

@Mandsst @crikey_news @TurnbullMalcolm NBN Co’s wireless is currently 12Mbps down/1Mbps up, planned to rise to 25/4. Coalition no change?

via Janetter for Mac in reply to Mandsst

@mwyres @renailemay Wordfence won’t necessarily help you with that. There’s been some big waves of WordPress spambots this week.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to mwyres

@hpfm_fish And if it is really a power law, then that’s the function you put into the spreadsheet, yeah? Building models that work?

via Janetter for Mac in reply to hpfm_fish

Thu plan: Catch up on comms; write for @zdnetaustralia (but about what?); remainder TBA, but includes return to Wentworth Falls.

via Janetter for Mac

@SnarkyPlatypus Aujourd’hui, nos estomacs sont comme un seul.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to SnarkyPlatypus

@SnarkyPlatypus Bonjour. La Nouvelle Lune la nuit dernière a apporté une ambiance intéressante. Mais une journée qui s’annonce chargée.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to SnarkyPlatypus

@scott_thewspot Heh I know. But on Tue @BernardKeane was busy with other stuff so I was doing political reportage for a change. BOOM!

via Janetter for Mac in reply to scott_thewspot

@scott_thewspot Thanks. Yes, the swinging voters in Western Sydney don’t give a stuff about the NBN technicals, I content.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to scott_thewspot

@R_Chirgwin I do not know who made that comparison,m I just know that the comparison was made (after someone asked if it were me).

via Janetter for Mac in reply to R_Chirgwin

Me at @crikey_news: “Broadband battle: hard numbers, ideology and gut feel”, being a first-cut analysis of NBN stuff. crikey.com.au/2013/04/10/bro…

via Janetter for Mac

Me at @ABCthedrum: “Like it or not, Turnbull’s NBN vision strikes a chord”, being an OPINION about politics. abc.net.au/unleashed/4620…

via Janetter for Mac

At the risk of stirring the pot further, I’ll finally tweet links to the things about the NBN that I wrote yesterday… and then respond.

via Janetter for Mac

Thu plan, draft: Catch up on comms; write for @zdnetaustralia; return to Wentworth Falls; remainder TBA. There is much confusion.

via Janetter for Mac

Oh hello, Thursday. There seems to be rather a lot of replies to, erm, reply to. Or at least look at.
