Time to remember an oldie but a goodie. twitpic.com/co4nlt
@zacmartin (That and my budget is tight, unless clients pay their bills before I head to the US on Saturday.)
Your Beerend is a useful project, @zacmartin, but with no permanent base I’ll support it in spirit only for now. pozible.com/project/11432
@jonoabroad Or, I just use this. wordpress.org/extend/plugins…
@jonoabroad I can just use the basic tools in this, for instance. wordpress.org/extend/plugins… Or even just not bother any more.
@jonoabroad But this is not a particularly urgent thing. I may replace it with a list of events I’m at, there’s stuff to do that already.
@jonoabroad No, maps are easy, you turn the list of locations into KML using Google Maps shit. City, arrive and depart times, optional note.
@ThomBus And then there’s @ApostrophePong, whose Thai use-name is ‘Pong, a great test for forms that fail to sanitise input data properly.
@jonoabroad It’s just a simple list that expires. There’s a widget for displaying tables, I’ll just cron it out of a CSV file or some shit.
@jonoabroad My website is made of WordPress, so it has to plug into that. The requirement spec is this image. twitpic.com/co2dc5
Congratulations, @Pozible, on your sign-up form having a “Full name” field that just accepts a string of characters.
Don’t you try to out-arsehat me, boy. I’m a professional.
@mongrel43 Look, if you’re going to try that approach then clearly I need to also write my own HTTP server in Ada.
@indigoid @adm_76 Yeah I’m magnificently unimpressed with @TripIt, and yet this is supposedly help us as a success story.
RT @Asher_Wolf: Bourke St Mall, Melbourne being evacuated due to bomb threat according to reports. [Another happy @TripIt user?]
I can see me having to write my own damn WordPress widget to do this. And I’ve been avoiding learning how to do that for years.
Right. @TripIt is useless. No apparent concept of “trips” being chains of transport links with stops. “Plans” come from itineraries, not me.
And now @TripIt is offering to show me a video that contains animated leprechauns, or some shit.
I think the problem is that, conceptually, @TripIt doesn’t log trips, but destinations. If they have airports and hotels. I’m crying now.
So I merge the Katoomba-Sydney trip with the Sydney-SFO trip, and the Katoomba-Sydney part vanishes. That was helpful, @TripIt.
Because I am going from the Blue Mountains to Sydney, @TripIt has suggested flights from Canberra to Sydney. Because obviously.
“We’ve sent an email with a verification link,” says @TripIt for Android, even though I used my password to log in. No email here yet tho.
@semiboganman Sure, Hack and Background Briefing are very different beasts. But surely in 2013 they’d have learned from previous stories?
So @TripIt knows where Wentworth Falls IS, it just insists I choose a different nearby town. This makes no sense. twitpic.com/co1v2e
Ah that’s right. TripIt doesn’t know about Wentworth Falls (because it doesn’t have an airport?). It’s very aviation-centric.
@docbaty That’s quite right, Steve. The future is advertising. Mad Men is part of a long propaganda strategy to reduce our hate of ad men.
@ClaudiaHayworth Nah, that’s just an echo of the factory-employee media workers thinking that’s the only kind of media there is. Arsehats.
@timfdavis Well, I’m a tad rusty at all that. So I suppose that makes me a project manager. I need to find some rootable dev geek…
I assume people have noticed that “social” is about machines reading all your stuff? You can still be completely social without “social”.
@timfdavis I didn’t use ANY of the “social” stuff in Dopplr. It was just a handy way to manage a list, count miles & carbon, and draw a map.
@timfdavis Yeah Nokia didn’t really understand what the internet was back then, so they were too busy losing half a billion Euros.
Hello, @SnarkyPlatypus, meet @bernietb. Hello, @bernietb, meet @SnarkyPlatypus.
@timfdavis Ah no, as I said in the next tweet. TripIt is WAY too much ugliness and overhead for a simple list of towns that auto-expires.
If you’re at a loose end, all four of the radio spots I did this week are now on my website, under “Conversations”. stilgherrian.com/category/conve…
So, WordPress plugin to do a simple “here’s where I’ll be when” itinerary like Dopplr. Any suggestions? Not TripIt. twitpic.com/co1nsx
Dopplr steadily collapses. “Sorry, we couldn’t add those trips: We can’t find a city called ‘Sydney, Australia’.”
@kimogrady1 Thank you. I must admit, I was surprised that @triplejHack seemed so behind the pace on understanding hacktivism’s subtleties.

RT @juhasaarinen: Bitdefender blocks arseh.at URLs. [LOL! I know people there, I’ll email them to complain, or something.] @thepatus
@lewellyn Well, something might be possible on the weekend of 17 to 19, but I haven’t worked through all the planning yet.
Sat plan: Sloth and read, pretty much. And do a bit of tidying.
@SnarkyPlatypus Non, toute l’action se déroule sur la planète.
@lewellyn Which two days? There are certain traditions to uphold.
@SnarkyPlatypus Bonjour. Je suis étant contrôlé par le temps lui-même. Je blâme le passé. Et vous?
@paulkidd Hello, Uncle Paul.
Hello, Saturday.
Good God, they have THREE dress rehearsals for the Eurovision Grand Final? eurovision.tv/page/malmo-201…
