via Janetter for Mac

via Janetter for Mac

@oliyoung Indeed. Now I’ll probably end up wasting more time creating an exception so I get a valid feed out.

via Janetter for Mac

@1johnhampshire A TLS error wouldn’t affect RSS validation anyway. Different layer.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to 1johnhampshire

@1johnhampshire No, as just tweeted, it’s because the validator “correctly” rejects an RSS feed that contains HTTPS at that point.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to 1johnhampshire

Oh. This is a known problem. The RSS spec itself only supports HTTP, not HTTPS. sourceforge.net/p/feedvalidato… Now I face a dilemma.

via Janetter for Mac

@chrisjrn That’s true. I should’ve laid the blame at his feet right then and there.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to chrisjrn

Also, “check.cgi”? WHERE IS MY TIME MACHINE?

via Janetter for Mac

Who let these W3C people invent the web anyway? What would they know?

via Janetter for Mac

So @cheshireb was right. I should have disagreed with W3C over what constitutes a valid URL, because I was goddam bloody well right.

via Janetter for Mac

W3C’s validator reckons the https URL in line 38 isn’t a full URL. validator.w3.org/feed/check.cgi… Edit to http, it’s valid. validator.w3.org/feed/check.cgi…

via Janetter for Mac

Oh excellent*. I just spent two hours trying to figure out why an RSS feed wouldn’t validate. It’s because there’s a bug in the validator.
