RT @mpesce: GIVE THE SNAKE MORE COKE [Well there’s a sentence you don’t see every day.]

via Janetter for Mac in reply to mpesce

RT @kcarruthers: Must confess @danger5tv has been making me chortle
via @SBS2 [Could you even say it was a “Sensible Chuckle”?]

And in their sent mail? “View 6552 emails” says the link. Yeah no.

via Janetter for Mac

People with three years of email still in their inbox.

via Janetter for Mac

Unfortunately I am working again tonight, so I will have to catch up with @danger5tv series 2 on the @SBS2 catchup web thingy.

via Janetter for Mac

RT @prestontowers: Loving Danger 5. Where can we see Series 1? [@danger5tv s01 was broadcast last night in a block, but it’s on iTunes.]

via Janetter for Mac in reply to prestontowers

Oh, and mailboxes for employees who left years ago, now with a billion gigabytes of crap in them.

via Janetter for Mac

Interestingly, the smaller clients’ hosting accounts take longer to migrate. Lots of domains they don’t use, and a server full of email.

via Janetter for Mac

Meh. It’ll sort itself out overnight. Mostly.

via Janetter for Mac

@NewtonMark I am not explaining myself well. I suspect I should apply the rule “Look, I did the right thing. It’s someone else’s fault.”

via Janetter for Mac in reply to NewtonMark

@NewtonMark Well, not glue as such. More that if some arsehat isn’t respecting TTL then the old DNS can say “Go look over there.”

via Janetter for Mac in reply to NewtonMark

@NewtonMark These are the zones on the old server. I should probably make them glue.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to NewtonMark

@NewtonMark Shoosh. I know that. Also, copy the new zone file back from the server that I just migrated those domains to.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to NewtonMark

I think I’ll have a coffee now. Yes, that’s the right order. Delete DNS zone files, then have a coffee and think whether you should do it.

via Janetter for Mac

Hmmm… Should I have really just deleted all those DNS zone files? I guess we’ll soon find out.

via Janetter for Mac

@DrRachie @KetanJ0 Sounds like it’s going to be a rough night.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to DrRachie

@charliepick I agree, it’s a brilliant concept well executed. Bravo, @Slate.

Sun plan, 1730 update: Obtain wakefulness and food; 1900 server migration final checks and cutovers, running quite late into the night.

via Janetter for Mac

Oh. That quick nap was not meant to turn into “sleep all afternoon”. Or perhaps it was.

via Janetter for Mac

1000 AEDT: We’ll update you next at 1100 AEDT, once we’ve confirmed some of the timing issues.

via Janetter for Mac

1000 AEDT: There may also be a delay in some email reaching you, up to a couple of hours in extreme cases. We’re working to reduce that.

via Janetter for Mac

1000 AEDT: During that cutover period, there may be a loss of service of your website of about 10 minutes.

via Janetter for Mac

1000 AEDT: WE will begin testing client accounts on the new server at 1100 AEDT. As each one is confirmed OK, we will cut it over.

via Janetter for Mac

@SnarkyPlatypus I shall be doing exactly that, with alacrity and gusto. And also the chemicals.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to SnarkyPlatypus

Sun plan, supplemental: The entire plan also seems to involve being eaten by clouds of small insects.

via Janetter for Mac

Sun plan: Continue to potter around until the server migration requires me to do something; do the something; repeat; collapse.

via Janetter for Mac

@SnarkyPlatypus On peut, cependant, d’attirer un opossum.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to SnarkyPlatypus

@SnarkyPlatypus Je ne apprécie pas l’humidité, ni la douleur / arrière. Vous ne pouvez pas résoudre quoi que ce soit avec de la salade.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to SnarkyPlatypus

@SnarkyPlatypus Bonjour. Je désintégrant lentement, et non dans le bon sens. Et vous?

via Janetter for Mac in reply to SnarkyPlatypus

Sun plan, draft: Continue to potter around until the server migration requires me to do something; do the something; repeat; collapse.

via Janetter for Mac

@elronxenu That’s what I was thinking. cPanel has an automated account migration tool, but then they have to check afterwards.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to elronxenu

@R_Chirgwin He/she wanted to exit via the window, but I didn’t have it open. I had the door open. He eventually figured that out.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to R_Chirgwin

@elronxenu It’s a mix. 30-ish accounts, maybe half WordPress, a couple in Joomla, a bunch of static ones, and a couple bespoke systems.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to elronxenu

@elronxenu I was told to block out around nine hours, based in the number of accounts and the amount of data.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to elronxenu

@elronxenu And I would do the accounts in smaller batches. Meh. I let people follow their procedures. Nothing here is critical stuff.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to elronxenu

@belungerer Possibly not the ideal choice for me.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to belungerer

0600 AEDT: There has been no further communication from the data centre engineers, so we assume everything is proceeding to plan.

via Janetter for Mac

0600 AEDT: The process of migrating client accounts to the new hosting infrastructure continues.

via Janetter for Mac

@llament @marcuskelson @leftocentre @AdamSpenceAU @R_Chirgwin Well anything dying under the house will smell pretty choice.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to llament

@marcuskelson @leftocentre @AdamSpenceAU @R_Chirgwin But yes, knew immediately that this was not a feline encounter.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to marcuskelson

@marcuskelson @leftocentre @AdamSpenceAU @R_Chirgwin Well it’s sort of a cat. It’s more a cat than, say, a horse. Or a toad.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to marcuskelson

Sunday. The dull plodding tedium of life continues, but with more humidity, and potential interference from family members. Sunday.
