So, do you want to do a group cybering thing in Canberra in April 2016? The ACSC Conference is for you! twitter.com/jturner_ibrs/s…

@jpwarren @kcarruthers @jdub Everything I say undermines everything that I do. It’s my standard operating procedure.

via TweetDeck in reply to jpwarren

@jpwarren @kcarruthers @jdub Of course, non-fogeys would be using ipchains, not iptables.

via TweetDeck in reply to jpwarren

@johnthelutheran Problem already solved. My test file was corrupt. The production file opened just fine in Reaper, my DAW. Sigh. Thanks.

via TweetDeck in reply to johnthelutheran

@jdub Indeed. And I actually know that. And I suspect you know that I know that.

via TweetDeck in reply to jdub

@jdub That said, I do miss certain command-line tools on occasion, BECAUSE I AM A TEDIOUS OLD FOGEY.

via TweetDeck in reply to jdub

@jdub I am sick of your “facts”.

via TweetDeck in reply to jdub

@jdub This may come as a surprise, but there are people who use software tools who are not developers of software tools.

via TweetDeck in reply to jdub

@thedippaeffect True. The test file was emailed. The production file was sent via Dropbox. The internet is rubbish.

via TweetDeck in reply to thedippaeffect

In have deleted my tweet asking about audio file conversion because I already had a tool for the job.

via TweetDeck

@thedippaeffect Weird. Reaper is my DAW. The test .wma sent yesterday didn’t open. The actual one sent today did. I am an arsehat.

via TweetDeck in reply to thedippaeffect

@jdub While powerful, that does take me down the path of having to install brew, does it not?

via TweetDeck in reply to jdub

@vealmince @kcarruthers You’re thinking of Ronald MacDonald, I think. At least I think I think that.

via TweetDeck in reply to vealmince

@juhasaarinen Yes, advertising is part of the media industry.

via TweetDeck in reply to juhasaarinen

Well today didn’t exactly follow the plan, but there was good progress in other ways, so I’m moderately happy. Wine time.

via TweetDeck

The sheer diversity of Australia’s media industry explained in just one photograph. What an embarrassment. twitter.com/AdNews/status/…

@MsLods @purserj @NewtonMark @PointZeroOne Thanks. So does the previous Code still apply? I guess not, parties to the contract are gone?

via TweetDeck in reply to MsLods

@jeamland It’s OK, I’ve built up an immunity.

via TweetDeck in reply to jeamland

@purserj @NewtonMark @PointZeroOne That said, I can’t remember offhand where we’re up to with the Internet Content Code of Practice.

via TweetDeck in reply to purserj

@purserj @NewtonMark @PointZeroOne It’s internet content, and that’s what ACMA regulates.

via TweetDeck in reply to purserj

@0x1C I’m sure I don’t know what you’re talking about.

via TweetDeck in reply to 0x1C

@NewtonMark @PointZeroOne Some of us have been trained in how to sail close to the line. Most people, not so much.

via TweetDeck in reply to NewtonMark

@NewtonMark @PointZeroOne Seriously, for bad language ACMA just slaps you with a wet lettuce leaf. Defo clocks up legal fees damn fast.

@brentspargo They’re all OK now. It was just that one train at lunchtime.

@kpfaulkner I’ve been out of bed since 0530. No, everything has just been taking longer than planned.

@R_Chirgwin @TheEconomist Yes, I’m sure that’s exactly why they wrote it.

via TweetDeck in reply to R_Chirgwin

SwiftOnSecurity I keep seeing Linux forensics courses, but finding out what Linux users do in private sounds like a terrible idea.

@PointZeroOne @NewtonMark It’s more about defamation and the like.

@iamMrDom Which Kool-Aid have I supposedly drank? Also, would you care to step outside and say that?

via TweetDeck in reply to iamMrDom

Alas, Google, this is all rather late in the game. twitter.com/ForbesTech/sta…

via TweetDeck

@iamMrDom It’s a Huawei Ascend Mate7, but theres plenty of other phones larger than the iPhone 6S Plus. Apple was just way late here.

via TweetDeck in reply to iamMrDom

Mon plan: Update various geek projects; 1200 interview; lunch and shopping, Katoomba; review @RNFutureTense audio; decide re Kiwicon.

via TweetDeck

@iamMrDom It’s smaller than the phone I currently use. It’s kinda funny how people think this is a problem.

via TweetDeck in reply to iamMrDom

@michaelneale @GordyPls @jodiem Perhaps, but then Telstra had an attractive plan that worked for me.

via TweetDeck in reply to michaelneale

@GordyPls @jodiem @Andluver Since I use a MacBook Pro and an iPad mini, I can build simpler workflows too.

via TweetDeck in reply to GordyPls

@GordyPls @jodiem Yes, agrees, and that was also a thing.

via TweetDeck in reply to GordyPls

@Andluver @jodiem @GordyPls This is true, and I did consider a Nexus. But it came down to OmniFocus.

via TweetDeck in reply to Andluver

@jodiem Yeah, this goes back to why I said, ages ago, that Windows Phone was way ahead with the Live Tiles stuff. iOS looks dated now.

via TweetDeck in reply to jodiem

@stitchsarah It’s smaller than the Huawei Ascend Mate7 I’m using now.

via TweetDeck in reply to stitchsarah

@jodiem @GordyPls Also, I am starting to use OmniFocus and that doesn’t come in Android.

via TweetDeck in reply to jodiem

@jodiem @GordyPls More seriously, I decided a few months back that I’d switch to an iPhone, since Android updates are a mess.

via TweetDeck in reply to jodiem

@jodiem Wait. I have never slipped in the shower with @GordyPls. I’d remember that. And then suppress the memory.

via TweetDeck in reply to jodiem

I seem to have just ordered an iPhone 6S Plus. I must’ve slipped in the shower.

@alexkidman Hasn’t someone done a comedy sketch on that? OH&S inspectors visiting the Evil Genius’ lair?

via TweetDeck in reply to alexkidman

@kiwicon I’m fairly sure too. You have a great reputation. And if not, well, the headline is “Kiwicon is Komplete Krap”, right? ;)

via TweetDeck in reply to kiwicon

@garystark @alexkidman Only when filled with pebbles and shaken.

via TweetDeck in reply to garystark

@alexkidman Well, they have a question, and some hand-waving. Though I suppose that’s close enough for science.

via TweetDeck in reply to alexkidman

@alexkidman And what IS the melting point of kryptonite?

via TweetDeck in reply to alexkidman

@nzkarit @kiwicon I’ll be looking through the conference program later today and deciding.

via TweetDeck in reply to nzkarit

@nzkarit @kiwicon The depressingly mercenary answer is that I’m after stories that my commissioning editors will pay for.

via TweetDeck in reply to nzkarit

And by this logic, you can fix ALL of your computer’s security problems by pouring molten lead into it. twitter.com/troyhunt/statu…

I have a very busy week ahead. Yesterday’s Weekly Wrap lists the highlights. I now ponder this over coffee. stilgherrian.com/weekly-wrap/28…

Monday. If time is a cycle, then your time is a fixie with a rusty frame, poorly adjusted brakes, and a slow-leak puncture. Loser. Monday.
