@munin Well he was a southern gentleman, wasn’t he?

It’s going to be hot for the next three days and I’m not impressed. And then I’ll be in the significantly cooler San Francisco. Better.

I had anecdotes once, when I was younger, but these days there’s a simple surgical procedure. twitter.com/joshgnosis/sta…

I’ve just noticed that my 1500 AEDT briefing uses fuckin’ WebEx. Can’t they just drain my soul and be done with it?

@dlmetcalf @zdnetaustralia I’ve had some thoughtful criticisms from one security vendor. All points welcome, tho they may not fit in.

via TweetDeck in reply to dlmetcalf

@dlmetcalf @zdnetaustralia I’m doing a follow-up piece on the reactions to E8 very soon. Maybe put a few sentences in an email?

via TweetDeck in reply to dlmetcalf

@dlmetcalf @zdnetaustralia I think you’re wanting summary documents to contain every subtlety. They can’t ever do that.

via TweetDeck in reply to dlmetcalf

@dlmetcalf @zdnetaustralia Yeah, but they have “Minimising the Threat from Java-Based Intrusions” with more detail. asd.gov.au/publications/p…

via TweetDeck in reply to dlmetcalf

@dlmetcalf @zdnetaustralia I get your point, but that yarn was just to introduce Essential Eight and point people to the actual documents.

via TweetDeck in reply to stilgherrian

@dlmetcalf @zdnetaustralia That’s exactly the ASD’s top-level description, lightly edited to make it less formal.

via TweetDeck in reply to stilgherrian

@dlmetcalf @zdnetaustralia My words were “blocking web browser access to … untrusted Java code”. I’s specifically about in-browser stuff.

@Cuff_S @RSAConference Yeah, and in recent years they’ve been getting 45,000 people through the door(s).

via TweetDeck in reply to Cuff_S

I’d forgotten that @RSAConference is this ginormous. Up to 15 sessions in parallel most of the day. It’s hard to choose.

@jturner_ibrs @GregDAustin This is true. And defending one’s country in the cybers is a real thing now.

via TweetDeck in reply to jturner_ibrs

@jturner_ibrs @GregDAustin But with such a widespread talent shortage, surely the military has to offer a seriously good deal?

via TweetDeck in reply to jturner_ibrs

@jturner_ibrs @GregDAustin This makes sense to me, ‘cos I think it would be just like direct commissioning of other specialists.

via TweetDeck in reply to jturner_ibrs

Ah. Fixed it. I just have to turn off the MacBook Pro and the HDD long enough for the bullshit to fade from memory.

via TweetDeck in reply to stilgherrian

Things should just fucking well work.

via TweetDeck in reply to stilgherrian

Bugger. The GUID partition map on my external HDD is gerb0rken. This happened on 1 Nov, but I can’t remember how it was fixed.

Thu plan, draft: Work on SEKRIT project, and plan next week, with breaks; 1500 RSA phone briefing; quiet night. I think that’s it.

Thursday. Three days isn’t as many as four, unless you count them. Thursday.
