I’ve been talking about writing a novel for ages — not here, but certain friends are probably sick of hearing about it. So I was looking for ways of streamlining the writing process when I found Writing a Novel Using The Snowflake Method.
The website’s pretty cheesy, and I’ve got no idea whether the method works or not. But you’ve gotta love Randy’s moustache. It’s like the 70s never ended…
Now all I have to do is figure out what the novel is about and, you know… write it.
Friday night I caught the new show by Mark Swivel as his character Jeremy Boutsakis (pictured left), called A Conference for Sole Traders. Great fun.
Mark obviously spent far too long as a corporate lawyer — in the financial services sector, no less! — so Jeremy knows how to lead us through a meaningless PowerPoint presentation. Jeremy is more the slightly daggy Australian motivational speaker rather than the slick American evangelist style, and it works well in the intimate environs of the The Old Fitzroy Theatre in Woolloomooloo.
It’s running until 29 June, so see this show before it heads to Edinburgh.
’Pong has started Songlines, an intensive workshop with film school Metro Screen which will result in “your personal audio/visual Sydney Songline.” ’Pong sent them his Anywhere Chairs series as part of his application. Somehow that went down well in Cloverland. But they’re starting the creative process back at the beginning…
The Sydney Writers Festival starts tomorrow and runs all next week. I’m impressed with their website: a minimalist design which actually concentrates on the content — words!
