The Snarky Platypus has just posted his prediction for the federal election. Something to read over dinner, and I daresay I’ll have a response in the morning.
Labor’s better economics qualifications
The Labor party a risk to the economy? Perhaps not, since eight of their front bench have degrees in economics — including Craig Emerson with a PhD — while only three Coalition ministers have the qualifications.
Thailand approaches rapidly
Next week’s trip to Bangkok is taking shape. ’Pong has booked a fine-looking hotel at a mere THB2000 a night (about AUD66). I’ve been chatting with some Thai lads online — and been amused at the assumption that I’m a farang looking for, um more carnal pleasures. [sigh] Such assumptions! They seem to stop when I mention my boyfriend. So, 6 nights in Bangkok and then off to Chiang Mai. Any suggestions for things to do? And no, you can skip Patpong.
Ignoring iYomu
Since I wrote about that social networking site iYomu and then predicted it wouldn’t go anywhere, I’ve never been back. The only “friends” who’ve tried to link to me there are two complete strangers trying to win the million dollar challenge. I stand by my prediction.
Criminal profiling a load of old bunk?
Criminal profiling is easy, apparently. According to this fascinating article in New Yorker, it uses the same tricks as stage psychics and other cons. Hat-tip to denialism blog.
Flickr’s 2 billionth photo
I suppose it’s nice that the 2 billionth photo on Flickr is from Sydney, but does it have to be a picture of that stupid gold-plated dead tree in Chinatown? As an aside, there are now 4.1 billion photos on Facebook. Hat-tip to Peter Black’s Freedom to Differ.
