Various people pointed me to this, and they said they found it creepy. I think it’s cool. Homer Simpson rendered as a “real” human!
A “new” portrait?
I just found this photo of me which ’Pong took in July 2002. I’m now using a version on my Twitter profile. Should it be my permanent image?
Stilgherrian in Thailand: photographic evidence
Speaking of my journey to Thailand, ’Pong has just published a bunch of photos of me he took there, only one of which you’ve seen before. Some of them are not particularly flattering.
Enceladus from Cassini
Have I been too harsh on NASA? Last week the Cassini spacecraft zoomed past Saturn’s moon Enceladus and took these magnificent pictures. Hat-tip to the Bad Astronomy Blog.
’Pong’s photo chosen by David Allen Harvey
’Pong’s photo “Direction” (pictured), taken at Earthdance in Sydney last year, has been selected by leading photographer David Allen Harvey — who we had the great pleasure of meeting in Bangkok last year — for his Emerging Photographers Fund slideshow. Congratulations.
(It’s a stupid Flash-driven thing, so I can’t even link to the specific slideshow. You’ll have to follow the generic link, then select “Emerging Photographers Fund”, then select “Singles I”, then scroll through to image 31 of 32.)
’Pong doesn’t think it’s the best of his photos from Earthdance. It’s interesting to see people’s different choices.
Metal Pole Critter
This happy little chap was found on a lamppost near ’Pong’s favourite tunnel under the railway in Newtown, Sydney. There are others in the vicinity, and I may seek them out for your enjoyment.
