Weekly Wrap 823: Rebuilding Railway Parade, and the future

A view down a rural road into a valley and then up the other side. The road has been stripped back to its foundations and surfaced with freshly-packed earth and such, ready for the next layer and, eventually, asphalt. On the right, two black on yellow signs read â€œNEW WORK NO LINES MARKEDâ€ and â€œDRIVE SLOWâ€. Trees and bushes line both sides of the road, with those on the left caught by the morning light.

My week of Monday 2 to Sunday 8 March 2026 wasn’t as busy as it was meant to be, thanks to more fatigue than usual. Still, I recorded a podcast, did some billable work, and locked in some more of the house-moving logistics.

Weekly Wrap 822: Unexpectedly Bankstown, and now March

Weâ€™re looking out a window. At least two-thirds of the view is of a brick wall painted cream, heavily cracked. Rising up in the middle of the image is the shiny steel chimney of a restaurant kitchen extractor fan. Above the roofline of this wall are several air conditioning units on the roof of the next building and, in the far distance, trees and the upper parts of buildings. The sky is grey and cloudy.

My week of Monday 23 February to Sunday 1 March 2026 was disrupted by an unexpected need to be somewhere other than the Blue Mountains. I chose Sydney, and specifically Bankstown. All that went well, and I got a lot of planning done, but there’s little new to show you â€” except a successful first stage of the crowdfunder.

Weekly Wrap 821: A cocktail for the Fire Horse

On a clean pub table sits a rocks glass, with a second one behind it. Both contain an orange-brown drink and a big fat ice cube. Behind all that is a large open window with a view of a passing tram. And on the right, through the glass door, can be seen the sign â€œCharlie Chanâ€™s Bar.

The week of Monday 16 to Sunday 22 February 2026 took me another week closer to my move back to Sydney. I got lots of little things done in the background, but I don’t have much to show you â€” apart from the links to Interesting Things.

Weekly Wrap 820: A podcast about AI, and big changes loom

My week of Monday 9 to Sunday 15 February 2026 saw me settle into a busier phase of life, preparing for my move back to Sydney after 15 years in a kind of exile, as well as the usual podcast production and, as it happens, a new phase of work for a client.

Weekly Wrap 819: The relocation is confirmed! To Campsie!

On a bright sunny day with blue sky stands a red-brick hotel, three storeys high, with the ground floor finished in cream tiles. The awning is dark green, and reads â€œCampsie Hotelâ€ in white.

My week of Monday 2 to Sunday 8 February 2026 wasn’t particularly productive, but my move back to Sydney was finally confirmed after 15 years of living in the Blue Mountains “for a few weeks”. Not immediately, but very soon. I have a lot to think about.

Weekly Wrap 818:The future hinges on the Momos of Fate

My week of Monday 26 January to Sunday 1 February 2026 represents a hinge of fate, or at least it’s very likely to do so. I’ll find out in the coming days, and then I’ll explain what I mean. Either way, it’s nothing to do with Winston Churchill.
