Elephant grass refers to either the African species Pennisetum purpureum, the southern Asian grass Saccharum ravennae, or Asiatic Zebra grass or Porcupine Grass Miscanthus sinensis. Turtle grass, however, is a member of the Hydrocharitaceae family of aquatic plants.
