Word-whore. I write 'em. I talk 'em. Information, politics, media, and the cybers. I drink. I use bad words. All publication is a political act. All communication is propaganda. All art is pornography. All business is personal. All hail Eris! Vive les poissons rouges sauvages!

The 9pm S-Bend of Technology with David Gerard

A balding clean-shaven white man in spectacles, probably Gen X, looking disdainfully at the camera. It’s David Gerard!

As the summer series continues we’re joined once more by David Gerard for a suitably cynical look at what’s happening in and around the AI bubble. Bros, do not send hate mail, but we do not believe your claims.

Bingo Card 2026: Which of these things will happen?

Illustrative stock imagery of a bingo card and bingo player stamps, with an inset image of a random platypus.

Snarky Platypus and I have created this bingo card for 2026 listing 25 distinctly possible things. We also list the suggestions which didn’t make the Final Cut.

The 9pm All-Electric Douchebag with Peter Anderson

A handsome middle-aged white man looks into the camera. It's Peter Anderson!

I know nothing about cars. I don’t even know how to drive. So obviously my guest today is freelance motoring journalist and editor of The Redline, Peter Anderson — because a lot has been happening in the auto industry, right? I might learn something.

The upper floor is wood, painted cream with maroon trim, and through the windows that run the full length of that floor one can see the brightly-coloured handles of the various levers. On the left a metal staircase leads up to the door., A wooden painted sign reads MOUNT VICTORIA SIGNAL BOX.

My week of Monday 4 to Sunday 10 August 2025 saw the production of a podcast and some work on my websites, as well as quite a bit of sleep. So, an ordinary week. I also made an unexpected trip to Mount Victoria before Monday had even properly begun.

Weekly Wrap 792: I slept a lot this week, so here’s a duck

My week of Monday 28 July to Sunday 3 August 2025 was the second in a row that included a lot of sleeping. Maybe it’s just the weather, but I don’t know. Anyway, I got a bunch of planning done, and recorded a podcast for the coming week.

Weekly Wrap 791: Random parrots and a music podcast

My week of Monday 21 to Sunday 27 July 2025 saw very limited productivity and quite a lot of sleeping, alas. But at least both king parrot couples visited me, and both males insisted on being fed separately from the rest of the avian babble. Oh, and there was a new music podcast. You should listen to that.
