This is the stadium-sized Victoria Crater, which the rover Opportunity reached a couple of weeks ago.

Richard, who couldn’t post this himself for some reason, had also noted some grand photos of Victoria Crater at http://hiroc.lpl.arizona.edu/. What’s truly amazing is the image taken from orbit which shows _Opportunity_ sitting at the edge of the crater — and even its tracks across the sand!
If this is what we can see on the Martian surface, imagine what the National Reconnaissance Office can see in _your_ back yard right now here on Earth!
