I am happy with my week of Monday 27 October to Sunday 2 November 2025. While I didn’t push out the podcasts I’d intended, Certain Things were sorted out. And here’s a photo of a fire station from last century.
Podcasts
- Snarky Platypus and I recorded an episode of Another Untitled Music Podcast on Saturday but I didn’t get time to edit it on Sunday. It will be posted on this coming
MondayTuesday evening, and it will make a lot of people very angry. Great music, but controversial opinions. Sorry there hasn’t been a new podcast for you this week, but there will be two next week.
The 9pm Edict and Another Untitled Music Podcast are supported by the generosity of you, their listeners. Please consider supporting them. You can to throw a few coins into the tip jar directly or subscribe for special benefits. There’s also some specific benefits for supporting AUMP.
Articles
- The Weekly Cybers #91. AI companies cop a copyright slap down, Microsoft cops a legal battle over misleading conduct, and cops starting building an AI-based Gen Z and Alpha translator. Oh, and lots more.
You can read my previous writing at Authory, where you can also subscribe to an email compilation of any new stories each Sunday morning.
Photos, Videos , Media Appearances, Corporate Largesse
None of these. You can subscribe to my YouTube channel to be notified when new videos appear and when livestreams are scheduled. I know it’s been a while. Patience, Butterfly!

The Week Ahead
[Update 4 November 2025: It didn’t take long for things to be rearranged, in part due to some terrible sleep patterns, and in part due to the weather.]
On Monday Tuesday I’ll edit and post that episode of Another Untitled Music Podcast. I’ll also sort out some client-related bits and pieces. It’s also Melbourne Cup Day but give a fuck.
NEW: On Tuesday evening I’ll try to catch the 2025 Lowy Lecture by Mike Burgess, head of the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO), but of course I can watch that any time.
Tuesday Wednesday will be an errands and shopping day in Katoomba, plus a little more administrivia and client planning.
On Wednesday evening I’m recording the thrice-rescheduled episode of The 9pm Edict with Dr Alice Gorman and Rami Mandow about what’s happening in space. If you have a TRIGGER WORD or CONVERSATION TOPIC for this episode, please let me know by 11am AEDT this Wednesday 5 November — although to be fair we’re already looking at a packed show.
On Thursday I’ll try to catch the auDA Webinar: ICANN84 debrief, and then edit that episode of the Edict — though it may not be posted that night because I have a dinner engagement with a former colleague.
Friday is the start of Frog ID Week, which runs through to 16 November. I’ll also produce The Weekly Cybers as usual.
On Saturday it’ll be another day down in Sydney being adjacent to the apartment hunting. This is an interesting project, and I’m getting to know A Certain Area of Sydney quite well.
And during the course of this week I’ll map out the next seasonal crowdfunder. This may seem a bit previous, as the English commoners might say, but the spring series crowdfunder was almost a whole month late and this season will have Special Requirements. More next week. I love you all.
Further Ahead
- The 9pm Edict recording with freelance motoring journalist Peter Anderson, editor of The Redline, 12 November 2025. I’m not really into cars, so this will be an auto-industry-for-dummies overview I guess? If you’re a supporter with a TRIGGER WORD or CONVERSATION TOPIC for this episode, please let me know by 8pm AEDT on 11 November.
- The 9pm Edict recording with infectious diseases physician and medtech nerd Dr Trent Yarwood, who’s been on the pod before, 18 November 2025. If you’re a supporter with a TRIGGER WORD or CONVERSATION TOPIC for this episode, please let me know by 10am AEDT that day.
- The 9pm Edict recording with digital rights enthusiast Justin Warren, who’s been on the pod before, 27 November 2025. If you’re a supporter with a TRIGGER WORD or CONVERSATION TOPIC for this episode, please let me know by 10am AEDT that day.
- ATARASHII GAKKO!, Hordern Pavilion, Sydney, 4 December 2025. This Japanese group is well worth exploring. I’m not sure who I’m taking to this gig yet. Make me an offer. And to be clear, while I still haven’t decided on a co-conspirator for the night, I’ve have bought tickets.
- Takashi Wakasugi Work In Progress, Factory Theatre, Sydney, 5 December 2025. He’s also doing a show on 6 December.
[Photo: Campsie Fire Station, Sydney, photographed on 1 November 2025. This is one of the suburbs in which the apartment-hunting is happening. Maybe I’ll say more about that some time. But for now, this is a delightful example of early 20th century architecture.]
