The Australian Government’s “Do Not Call” register, where you can tell telemarketers not to phone you, opened for business yesterday. In the first 24 hours, more than 200,000 Australians listed their phone numbers.
A Greener Apple
Apple has responded to being listed as the worst PC manufacturer from an environmental standpoint, releasing a long blog-like piece called A Greener Apple. Interestingly, Apple wasn’t listed as worst because their practices were necessarily the worst, but because their cult of secrecy meant that they didn’t talk about what they were doing. Naomi Wolf reckons the US has taken the initial steps towards becoming a Fascist state. What’s interesting about the comments at Why We Worry is that most posters seem to think Wolf said the US was already a Nazi dictatorship — which she didn’t.
