During my week of Monday 16 to Sunday 22 December 2024 I managed to knock off two podcast episodes, a newsletter, and a bunch of planning, despite suffering from a mild cold. I’m so pleased with myself that I’m posting a photo of a pub from five years ago.
Podcasts
- The 9pm Major Irritation (and certain other amusements), a solo episode recorded and posted on Thursday evening. The page also includes images of my recent injuries, right down the bottom so you won’t just stumble across them.
- The 9pm Weeds of Disappointment with David F Porteous, recorded on Friday night and posted on Sunday evening.
The 9pm Edict is supported by the generosity of its listeners. You can always throw a few coins into the tip jar or subscribe for special benefits. Please consider, especially as the holiday season looms. It’s such a terrible time for freelancers.
Articles
- The Weekly Cybers #49. The continuing saga of Australia’s eSafety rules, some thoughts on digital childhood, another slap down for Craig Wright, and much more. That’s the final edition of TWC for 2024. The newsletter will return on Friday 10 January 2025.
You can read my previous writing at Authory, where you can also subscribe to an email compilation of any new stories each Sunday morning.
Media Appearances, Photos, Videos, Corporate Largesse
None of these. You can subscribe to my YouTube channel to be notified when new videos appear and when livestreams are scheduled.

The Week Ahead
On Monday I’m heading down to Sydney to collect my new glasses, ending an annoying 20 days of wonky vision. I’ll also be checking out a new eatery, running a few errands, and having drinks with a friend or two before returning to the Mountains.
Tuesday will be about tidying up some loose ends and some shopping in Katoomba.
Wednesday is Christmas Day. I have no plans for this. This is deliberate. And Thursday will also be a quiet day at home.
On Friday morning I’ll head down to Sydney again, this time staying in an apartment there until 3 January 2025.
On Friday afternoon I’m recording a podcast with Snarky Platypus, in which we’ll be looking back at our 2024 bingo cards If you’re a supporter with TRIGGER WORDS or a CONVERSATION TOPIC for this episode, please let me know by midday AEDT this Friday 27 December. I’ll post the finished episode on Sunday.
Further Ahead
Nothing is 100% locked in yet, although I do have a sketch-plan for the next podcast recordings. Hey, I want to be a bit lazy through the supposed holiday period! I’ll fill you in next weekend.
