My week of Monday 11 to Sunday 17 August 2025 brought some disappointing news on the professional front, which means some plans will need to be modified. But no drama, because I then spent the weekend at an event in the Hunter Valley.
Podcasts
- On Thursday I recorded an episode of The 9pm Edict with Ariel Bogle and Cam Wilson, authors of Conspiracy Nation. That will be edited and posted some time in the coming week.
The 9pm Edict and Another Untitled Music Podcast are supported by the generosity of their listeners. You might like to throw a few coins into the tip jar or subscribe for special benefits. There’s also some specific benefits for supporting AUMP. Please consider.
Articles
- The Weekly Cybers #81. It’s becoming predictable: social media age restrictions in the news again, AI and next week’s productivity roundtable, new cybercrime statistics, and much more.
You can read my previous writing at Authory, where you can also subscribe to an email compilation of any new stories each Sunday morning.
Corporate Largesse
- Once more the TechLeaders event has been my first corporate event in quite some time. On Saturday and Sunday I was in the Hunter Valley, courtesy of Influencing, and it continued into Monday. The sponsors, who were ultimately paying for the coach travel from Sydney to Pokolbin and return with Vineyard Shuttle Service, two nights accommodation at voco Kirkton Park, meals and drinks, were Adobe, ARM Hub, Dragos, Interactive, Kinetic IT, NCI Australia, Netskope, Omdia, and Palo Alto Networks. Also, Netskope gave us a handy little cable converter kit for smartphones.
Photos, Videos, Media Appearances
None of these. You can subscribe to my YouTube channel to be notified when new videos appear and when livestreams are scheduled.
Muskwatch
I’ve decided to drop this section. While I still want to keep track of what Mr Musk is doing, the newsletter of the same name, Muskwatch, is doing more or less the same thing but better.

The Week Ahead
On Monday I’ll still be in the Hunter Valley for the final day of TechLeaders 2025, but I return to Sydney that afternoon. I’ll stay in Sydney overnight so that on Tuesday I can deal with some health-related matters and run a few errands before getting the train back to Wentworth Falls.
I’m kinda glad I’ll be avoiding the Mountains on Monday, because at various times in the preceding days the weather forecast mentioned the possibility of snow.
The rest of the week will be the usual mix of client work, podcast post-production, administrivia, and sleeping.
Further Ahead
OK, so next week I’ll start adding some things here.
- A curious evening of drinks and nibbles to which you are not invited, Darlinghurst, Sydney, 29 August 2025.
RAAF Richmond Airshow 2025, 27-28 September 2025 (TBC). Nah, I’ll give it a miss.- Sam Campbell: Window Sucker, Sydney, 31 October 2025.
