Cnutful nominations for Episode 28?

Cnut of the Week graphic

Yes, it’s that time of the week, time to call for nominations for “Cnut of the Week” for tomorrow’s edition of Stilgherrian Live (9.30pm Thursdays Sydney time).

It’s the same rules as usual. We’re after people (or abstract forces of nature) who’ve been futilely trying to hold back the tide of digital change.

Who do you nominate, and why?

[Update 9am: It’s been pointed out to me that it’s not just digital change we’re talking about here, but any relentless tide of change.]

Live from The Frog Pond

Stilgherrian Live will start taking on a new form. I’ve just recorded a quick experimental episode live from our back garden using my MacBook Pro and a Telstra NextG card.

It worked!

The bloke at Telstra reckons I should be able to get a 3Mb/second uplink — more than enough for good video quality — which means we can have Stilgherrian Live from Pretty Much Anywhere.

This weekend I’ll be doing some live feeds from the Oz-IA/2008 Information Architecture conference, and next Thursday’s program will be live from Webjam 8 at Bar Broadway.

Where should I broadcast from after that?

Episode 27 online!

Episode 27 of Stilgherrian Live is now online for your viewing pleasure.

In this “Full Moon (almost) Animal Sex Passion Edition”, we feature lesbian dog sex and decide who’s “Cnut of the Week”: Michael Costa, Hurricane Ike or the US Federal Reserve. The final result was decisive — but who?

And for the first time, we had two talkback callers: Nick Hodge and… well… someone I might phone back later. Or maybe not.

The next regular episode of Stilgherrian Live will be broadcast live from Webjam 8 next Thursday night. There’ll probably also be a special episode or two from the Oz-IA/2008 Information Architecture conference this weekend. Stand by.

Episode 26 online!

Last night’s episode 26 of Stilgherrian Live is now online for your viewing pleasure.

In a disorganised episode which started late thanks to Art — I’ll write more about that later — former Treasurer Peter Costello was voted “Cnut of the Week”, narrowly beating controversial Thai prime minister Samak Sundaravej (สมัคร สุนทรเวช) and journalist Mark Day for his backward-looking story Blogs can’t match probing reports.

There was also an impromptu interview with Crikey cartoonist First Dog on the Moon wherein we discuss, inter alia, deputy opposition leader Julie Bishop and rabbits.
