Weekly Wrap 827: New podcasts, and exploring a new hood

View of an art deco theatre building in cream-painted plaster and two tones of blue trim, that are the top of the building being swirly and. The marquee reads "O R I O N" in a highly stylised art deco typeface.

Monday 30 March to Sunday 5 April 2026 was productive week. also relaxing, and indicative of how my move back to Sydney is evolving. I am happy.

Weekly Wrap 826: Settling into scenic Campsie

Looking up into a bright blue sky with scattered traces of cloud. A multi-storey brick apartment building looms, its side devoid of windows but decorated with square outlines of contrasting brick colours where one might expect windows to be. Tan on brown, brown on tan. At the top is a plain white box, presumably the top of the elevator shaft.

Monday 23 to Sunday 29 March 2026 was mostly about unpacking more things and getting used to the apartment and living back in Sydney, though I did manage to unclog the podcast post-production queue.

Weekly Wrap 825: Finally decamped to Campsie, hurrah!

A view out across apartment rooftops to a grey sky. On the left, one brick apartment building is taller with the antennas of a mobile phone cell on its roof. At the bottom there are treetops. But all is blurred slightly because the camera has focused on the balcony netting in the foreground.

I now live in Campsie! That’s in Sydney’s inner south-west, and the photo above was the view from the balcony on my first morning here, which was Wednesday. So my week of Monday 16 to Sunday 22 March 2026 was mostly occupied with moving and unpacking — and there’s still quite a bit to go.

Weekly Wrap 824: Podcast recordings, and observing an ibis

An Australian white ibis (Threskiornis molucca) stands in bright sunlight on an asphalt road surface. It has some lengths of dried grass in its beak, and it’s hunched over ready to launch itself into a steep climb up to the palm tree where it’s building its nest. Like most ibises in suburban Sydney, it’s a bit grubby.

My week of Monday 9 to Sunday 15 March 2026 saw both an ibis and me start building a new home. Well, mine is already built, so it’s mostly about preparing to move in. The ibis seems to have quite a bit of work to do.

Weekly Wrap 819: The relocation is confirmed! To Campsie!

On a bright sunny day with blue sky stands a red-brick hotel, three storeys high, with the ground floor finished in cream tiles. The awning is dark green, and reads “Campsie Hotel” in white.

My week of Monday 2 to Sunday 8 February 2026 wasn’t particularly productive, but my move back to Sydney was finally confirmed after 15 years of living in the Blue Mountains “for a few weeks”. Not immediately, but very soon. I have a lot to think about.

Weekly Wrap 817: Just look at the state of things!

Looking through the gap in a very rickety wooden fence, across an overgrown lawn, to a pair of tiny old sheds made of fibreboard or possibly asbestos, with broken windows and collapsing, rusty iron roofs.

My week of Monday 19 to Sunday 25 January 2026 was relatively quiet with lots of naps. But some planning was done, and the weather turned from wet to hot. Keep it clean, OK?
