We have laws which allow “terrorists” to be treated “differently. I’d like to use the word very carefully, @samanthamaiden @marcusod

@julie_posetti Sorry, a journalist described factional politics as “terrorism”? I think someone needs to be slapped there!

Tony Abbott is looking too smug.

Google Trends is my Godwin Gretsch. Maybe I can blame it all on @TurnbullMalcolm somehow.

via Twitter Web Client

People are disputing Google Trends I quoted. http://bit.ly/78xsYW Can I come out of this not looking like a goose?

via Twitter Web Client

FFS! I can’t turn my back for ten bloody minutes without the Liberals finding another way to implode!

via Twitter Web Client

@mediahunter Have you got a link to your blog post that said how the proportion of ad spend online is wrong?

via Twitter Web Client

@taterunino There’s a reason the headline ends “as we know it”. :) BTW, your sites are growing by which metric?

via Twitter Web Client

@Huntzie Nielsen NetRatings are monthly uniques, Google Trends dailies. Nielsen can go up while GT down. That’s part of my point.

Mobile: Enmore Rd; local errands; lunch? Will respond to tweets about my Crikey article in a batch later.

via Twitter Web Client

I do encourage people to post their speculations on the article at Crikey, so non-Twitter folk can share. http://bit.ly/78xsYW

@mfarnsworth Oh oops! :) Well, yes. Paywalls. People will pay for quality, I’m sure. But it has to be, you know, actual quality.

via Twitter Web Client in reply to mfarnsworth

@MiA_Will The decline isn’t just news sites though. eBay, PayPal, all sorts of sites show it. It’s puzzlementing.

via Twitter Web Client in reply to MiA_Will

@mfarnsworth The article is not paywall’d, but would have been until decision was made. Maybe a cache issue your end?

via Twitter Web Client in reply to mfarnsworth

@mrpaulb I wonder how you’d do news delivery in Facebook. Or even whether people would want it there.

via Twitter Web Client in reply to mrpaulb

@davidlmorris I have put those questions to Google Trends but it’s Thanksgiving so an answer will take time.

@paininthenet Well that’s it! I don’t know what the quote was. The person didn’t phone and say it to me. That’s journalism”!

@SnarkyPlatypus I think my taste would, to a large extent, depend on how I’m cooked. And, before that, how I’m stuffed.

I think I will be a goose for the rest of the day. This avatar is the first Google result for “angry goose”.

@GeordieGuy Both Nielsen and Google try to factor in JavaScript blocks etc, just with different secret sauce.

via Twitter Web Client in reply to GordyPls

@Huntzie My current theory is that Google Trends has been abandoned and we’re watching it disintegrate. http://bit.ly/5P0Czk

@garykemble The “filtering” was purely laziness on my part: “Here’s some answers I prepared earlier.”

via Twitter Web Client in reply to garykemble

I have been told that icebergs can be grounded, and then they don’t float. OK. Ta, @john_chr @Wyane This is seriously not my week.

via Twitter Web Client

@garykemble These two comments are relevant. http://bit.ly/7ge92a http://bit.ly/5P0Czk Google Trends is secret sauce, but probably broken.

via Twitter Web Client in reply to garykemble

@garykemble Google’s are daily uniques. Most published stats are monthly uniques. I saw that as the explanation. I am probably wrong.

via Twitter Web Client in reply to garykemble

@garykemble I didn’t check with other stats. The point as I saw it was Google’s methodology was different, therefore different result.

via Twitter Web Client in reply to garykemble

I don’t mean to be singling out the ABC for criticism this morning. Who should I pick on next?

via Twitter Web Client

Hmmm… I just saw that ABC News refers to “floating icebergs”. As opposed to the other kind? http://bit.ly/7pOTF8

Hah! ABC News report on Walkleys now with added linkage! http://bit.ly/8MHcic @garykemble, you’re a star.

via Twitter Web Client in reply to Huntzie

@abcnews Also, why not list ALL the winners, or at least link to them? Or has your web page run out of pixels? Grrr!

via Twitter Web Client

@abcnews Your role in society is to report the news, not trumpet ABC achievements above, you know, the actual winner.

via Twitter Web Client

@abcnews Your headline should be “Gary Hughes wins Gold Walkley”, not “ABC cleans up at Walkleys”. Self-promotion FTL. http://bit.ly/8MHcic
