In my week of Monday 22 to Sunday 28 September 2025 I moved beyond the stresses of earlier in the month and posted two podcasts, planned a bunch of stuff and wrapped up my 28th crowdfunding campaign. Welcome to spring. And yeah I took another photo of a kookaburra. That kookaburra.
Thank you for supporting The 9pm Spring Series 2025 crowdfunder

On Thursday night we wrapped up this season’s crowdfunding campaign, The 9pm Spring Series 2025.
My sincere thanks to the 54 supporters who kicked it past Target Two and brought it to 79% of Target Three.
Your contributions will support six special-guest episodes of The 9pm Edict podcast between now and the end of spring, one of which might well be a bit noice and unusual, and a few episodes of Another Untitled Music Podcast.
I’ll have more information on the planned podcasts next week.
Podcasts
After a bunch of delays I finally posted these two, and I like them.
- AUMP 00003: The Cover is Better, being an episode of Another Untitled Music Podcast recorded back on 14 September, but a glitch on the hosting platform meant it only appeared on Saturday morning this week.
- The 9pm Uncommon Death Adder with David F Porteous, recorded last Friday night and finally posted this Saturday evening.
The 9pm Edict and Another Untitled Music Podcast are supported by the generosity of you, their listeners. Please consider supporting them. You can to throw a few coins into the tip jar directly or subscribe for special benefits. There’s also some specific benefits for supporting AUMP.

The Week Ahead
It’s been relatively stressful for me recently, so the coming week will be about settling back into the groove. There will be client work at a gentle pace on Monday and Tuesday, and some podcast planning and production on Wednesday.
Thursday will see a day trip to Sydney for various purposes, and on Friday there’s The Weekly Cybers newsletter as usual.
Starting on Saturday Friday evening I’m housesitting in Sydney through to 20 October or so, although I may have some brief trips back to the Mountains. This comes at a particularly convenient time, as I’ll need to be in Sydney all three of these weekends.
[Update 3 October 2025: I’ll head down to Sydney on Friday evening because I’ll need to start relatively early Saturday.]
On Sunday, Snarky Platypus and I are recording an episode of Another Untitled Music Podcast. There’s a holiday in NSW for Labour Day on following Monday, so perhaps we can knock off two episodes.
Further Ahead
- The 9pm Edict recording with Dr Alice Gorman and Rami Mandow, 15 October 2025. If you have a space-related TRIGGER WORD or CONVERSATION TOPIC for this episode, please get it to me by 11am AEDT that day.
- Aussie Bird Count, 20–26 October 2025. It’s always good to be part of science.
- Sam Campbell: Window Sucker, Sydney, 31 October 2025.
