If you’re a “content creator” of any kind — writer, artist, whatever — then there’s something important you need to remember. The major platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and so on have no real obligation to preserve your content.
As The New York Times reported in Her Instagram Handle Was ‘Metaverse.’ Last Month, It Vanished, “Five days after Facebook changed its name to Meta, an Australian artist found herself blocked, with seemingly no recourse, from an account documenting nearly a decade of her life and work.”
She did get her account back, eventually, but only after the Times had contacted Instagram.
