Back at the hotel, despite my, erm, detour.

via TweetDeck

I think I like this city.

via Cloudhopper

As usual, I’m giving advice to locals.

via Cloudhopper

I told you we didn’t break it. I’m back at Market St. Sierra Nevada Pale Ale FTW.

via Cloudhopper

No, we didn’t break it. We didn’t.

via Cloudhopper

Oh, we’ve broken the cable car.

via Cloudhopper

So me and these drunk guys from Louisiana are not stealing a cable car.

via Cloudhopper

Seeing the “Toyota half time” in the basketball on ESPN does indicate a certain level of pwned, no?

via Cloudhopper

O hai free Manhattan.

via Cloudhopper

The woman next to me has a kitty as the background pic on her BlackBerry. I want to kill her. Unless she buys me tequila.

via Cloudhopper

OH: “I’m buying you a drink. I’m a man. Men buy ladies drinks.” So as long as that’s clear.

via Cloudhopper

OH: “We’re getting shots?” “Apparently.” Not me. I’m having another Manhattan. Obviously. You are so stupid.

via Cloudhopper

@SnarkyPlatypus It’s a very MAXIMUM MOAR kind of evening…

via Cloudhopper

Now playing: Prince, “I Would Die For You”.

via Cloudhopper

Also, if you like a botanical gin like Bombay Sapphire, try G Vine. I, um, have no idea why… ┬┐<shuffles feet┬┐>

via Cloudhopper

Who are Laine and Lizzie? NFI. Americans are so friendly. This, as I say, will end well.

via Cloudhopper

Also, a “chicken shot” is 1.5 ounces of Espelon tequila with a lime slice. I may or may not have had one because Laine and Lizzie bought it.

via Cloudhopper

The Parlour at Fishermans Wharf. GM is Steve. Nice guy. It’s happy hour. $6 Manhattans. This will end well.

via Cloudhopper

@expectproblems “U-505 survives at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, and as of 2005 has been completely renovated.”

via TweetDeck in reply to expectproblems

@expectproblems This one’s in good nick mostly. Alas conning tower / separate pressure hull isn’t open. Even more cramped than Oberon class.

via TweetDeck in reply to expectproblems

@jdub Please do not mock my long-standing interest in and occasional media coverage of military matters. Or I shall spank you.

via TweetDeck in reply to jdub

It’s the USS Pampanito, @danielstone, restored WWII fleet sub. Now museum. Not the first sub I’ve been on. HMS Opossum, when operational.

via TweetDeck

@peterwickins There is still an amusement machine museum at Pier 45, yes, but I didn’t go in. Too many things.

via TweetDeck in reply to peterw

On the SS Jeremiah O’Brien, a restored WWII Liberty Ship, I just ran into Wyatt Roy’s parents on holiday. We’ve been chatting…

via Cloudhopper

Submarines always give me the creeps. Deep breath… deep breath…

via Cloudhopper

Disappearing into a submarine. True.

via Cloudhopper

Some of these tourists are not heterosexual. I’m shocked, shocked I tell you.

via Cloudhopper

Clam chowder served in a hollowed-out bread roll, plus a beer, all up $7.79.

via Cloudhopper

“Shark” means “Wharf” in Android Land. Arsehats.

via Cloudhopper

Fishermans Shark is full of tourists. And fat seabirds. I’m shocked, shocked I tell you.

via Cloudhopper

@nwjerseyliz Alas I am “only” here in SFO until Sunday night, then it’s time to go home. Plus I have work to do while here.

via TweetDeck in reply to nwjerseyliz

@kristinmoore2 I’m in San Francisco, not New York. ;) I’m guessing all American cities have a Columbus Street or Avenue. It’d be the law.

via TweetDeck in reply to kristinmoore2

Columbus Ave. Lots of interesting eateries. Closest vibe in Sydney would maybe be Glebe Point Road?

via Cloudhopper

Strip clubs and adult video stores. Of course.

via Cloudhopper

Heading up Broadway, since @jasonlangenauer suggested it. It is uphill, but I am fit and strong. Ahem.

via Cloudhopper

Just recorded 10 mins of wild sound at the corner of Battery and California Sts. It’ll come in handy for something.

via Cloudhopper

OH: “So where’s Jake these days?” “Oh he’s tax evading.”

via Cloudhopper

Route chosen. I’ll go via Battery St and fake it from there. Exiting Wi-Fi.

via TweetDeck

@nwjerseyliz Nah, just a standard multiple entry visa, no residency status. 90 day max visit, IIRC.

via TweetDeck in reply to nwjerseyliz

@nwjerseyliz Hah! Not only did they let me into the US but they have me a 5-year visa. Also, this pretty ankle bracelet that beeps.

via TweetDeck in reply to nwjerseyliz

@Nickhodge I am aware of the hills. I saw them. I also saw cable cars in case of personal fail. Embarcadero has no hills. Oysters, though.

via TweetDeck in reply to NickHodgeMSFT

Decision made! It’s winter, and only 3.5 hours until sunset. I’ll head directly to Fisherman’s Wharf on foot. Now, to choose the route…

via TweetDeck

I love how the San Francisco Muni labels its trolley buses “zero emissions”. Electricity comes from magic fairyland, apparently.

via TweetDeck

@jasonlangenauer It struck me as safer to do obvious tourist destinations on a weekday.

via TweetDeck

@jasonlangenauer I was planning just to walk back across Golden Gate then to Fisherman’s Wharf, but may now just walk there via Embarcadero.

via TweetDeck

I see that earlier my auto-misspeller changed “Ugg” boots to “ugh”. Android knows…

via Cloudhopper

Oh, the bus is every hour. There was one 10 mins ago. Ergo, I must amuse myself for a while. Or change plans.

via Cloudhopper

Currently playing at Starbucks on Mission St: Sounds of me closing the computer so I can catch GGT route 10 bus across Golden Gate Bridge.

via TweetDeck

Currently playing at Starbucks on Mission St: Bing Crosby’s “Let it Snow Let it Snow Let it Snow” http://youtu.be/a7CYd5Lh…

via TweetDeck

@garystark I’ll pretend you didn’t say that.

via TweetDeck in reply to garystark

I was on Beale St just before. Jennifer was nowhere to be seen. I am disappointed.

via TweetDeck

Currently playing at Starbucks on Mission St: The Seekers’ “Blowin’ in the Wind”. This is just getting better and better.

via TweetDeck

Currently playing at Starbucks on Mission St: “Come, they told Him”, arranged for sitar, flute, snare drum and triangle. Kill me now.

via TweetDeck

@deptofinternets I have been embracing mediocrity all week. My life is mediocre. My choice of underwear is mediocre. Also, unflattering.

via TweetDeck

Former WikiLeaks members to launch OpenLeaks. And who didn’t see that coming? http://arseh.at/2md

via TweetDeck

RT @johnemcintyre: Baltimore drivers have trouble in light snow. And in heavy snow. And rain. And dark. And on dry sunlit roads.

via TweetDeck

RT @tonybarrell: As long as you don’t put anything in your mouth you’ll be fine. [It’s true. I have made the mistake already though.]

via TweetDeck

I have resorted to having a coffee at Starbucks to use the Wi-Fi. I feel dirty.

via TweetDeck

@Crikey Hah! @crikey_news can barely pay for me to write for them, let along buying your @… ;) You must be getting annoyed with that tho.

via TweetDeck in reply to Crikey

Ugh boots are marketed here as a luxury item? WTF?

via Cloudhopper

Mobile. Attention limited ‘cos I’m avoiding the outrageous prices of roaming mobile data. Telcos, it really does make you look bad.

via TweetDeck

All that sounds a bit tourist-oriented however. We shall see how I feel after breakfast.

via TweetDeck

Possible plan: Walk UN Square down Market St to Ferry Plaza, bus across Golden Gate Bridge, walk back to Fisherman’s Wharf, remainder TBA.

via TweetDeck

Fri (Sat) plan: Breakfast; wander San Francisco randomly, as mood and tide takes me; ideally, interview that last person I’m chasing.

via TweetDeck

@robcorr I don’t know what it means either. It looks like a line or two has been deleted there. That’s not what my original text says.

via TweetDeck in reply to robcorr

Why do people keep asking me questions whose answers are in my Twitter profile, website, or a few tweets back in the stream?

via TweetDeck

Ah, Friday! Let’s get this show on the road. But slowly.
