Weekly Wrap 785: Thinking of more pleasant times is the Quay to happiness, right?

Diarrhoea plagued my week of Monday 9 to Sunday 15 June 2025 but it was still productive, with another fun podcast and a lot of successful client work. But there was no time for photos, so here’s a shot of Circular Quay from a couple weeks ago.

You can see the original AMP Building in that photo, at the time Australia’s tallest building, Well this week it reopened after renovations.

  • A website which may or may not be useful, depending on where you are in Australia, but I like the data displays. Is it how right now?. There’s a couple international versions too.
  • And to finish, well, somehow I was introduced to this brief clip from a movie called Gentlemen Broncos (2009). There’s also a trailer. From its $10 million production cost they made back $118,192 at the box office. Make that what you will.

The Week Ahead

The diarrhoea has lasted for three days so far, so I’m pretty sure Monday will still be about recovery. If it continues beyond that then I’ll escalate it to the medical system.

Tuesday and Wednesday, however, are important deadline days for a client project, so that will keep me busy. Thursday is being kept in reserve in case there are overruns. And then on Friday it’s The Week Cybers as usual.

Saturday is the June Solstice, known as the Winter Solstice on this side of the planet of course, but I have yet to arrange any kind of celebration.

Further Ahead

  • UPDATED: Adelaide expedition, 26 June to 2 July 2025, with Snarky Platypus. On the Friday I’ll introduce him to the O-Bahn. On Saturday he has an exam and then we’ll record some podcast material. On Sunday we’ll go to Victor Harbour, on Monday to the McLaren Vale winemaking district, and onTuesday to my birthplace in Gawler.
  • The 9pm Edict recording with Snarky Platypus, the bingo card half-year review episode, 28 June 2025 (TBC). We’ll record this at some point while in Adelaide, and it’ll be posted around 5 July.
  • The 9pm Edict recording with me, Stilgherrian. For a change, Snarky Platypus will be interviewing me about South Australia, my life, my thoughts, and more as we walk around Adelaide and nearby locations. TRIGGER WORDS or a CONVERSATION TOPIC for that episode? By 8pm AEST on Friday 27 June please. I know this episode will take a little more editing than usual, so it’ll appear in mid-July or early August.
  • The 9pm Edict podcast recording with Sam Roggeveen, director of the International Security Program at the Lowy Institute and author of The Echidna Strategy, an alternative view of Australia’s defence needs, 9 July 2025. Read this review to get the flavour. If you’re a supporter with TRIGGER WORDS or a CONVERSATION TOPIC for this episode, please get them to me by 8pm AEST on Tuesday 8 July. No need to mention AUKUS because we’ll definitely be talking about that.
  • Another Untitled Music Podcast episode 1 recording, 12 July 2025, with the completed episode to be posted a few days later.
  • Another Untitled Music Podcast episode 2 recording, 26 July 2025, with the completed episode to be posted a few days later.
  • TechLeaders 2025, Hunter Valley, 16–18 August 2025.
