Weekly Wrap 826: Settling into scenic Campsie

Monday 23 to Sunday 29 March 2026 was mostly about unpacking more things and getting used to the apartment and living back in Sydney, though I did manage to unclog the podcast post-production queue.

Finally, there is a refrigerator! Not mine, which is still missing. Not the one Snarky Platypus inherited, because it wouldn’t fit through the door and that’s a whole other drama. No, it’s a brand new one which he bought this week. And it’s very nice. I finally managed to cook a proper meal, and then another one the following day.

But yeah, there’s still no progress in finding The Lost Module. For now I am working on the dining table. I think the pieces of my desk which have arrived are a bit too damaged, so I’ll have to get a new desk. Such is life.

Meanwhile the crowdfunder I launched seven weeks ago, The 9pm Stilgherrian’s Dramatic Decamp to Campsie, is now 95% of the way to its second target. Thank you all so much. I’ll post another update there tonight or, more likely, tomorrow.

Podcasts

Articles

  • The Weekly Cybers #110. Meta and YouTube found guilty of running addictive social media platforms, new AI data centre rules, Wikipedia bans AI use, and much more.

Videos, Photos, Media Appearances, Corporate Largesse

None of these. You can subscribe to my YouTube channel to be notified when new videos appear and when livestreams are scheduled.

Some Interesting Links

Not many this week because I’m running late.

  • Great work from Japan’s Open Reel Ensemble, Cyklepedia, to celebrate Wikipedia’s 25th birthday.
  • Do you like demographic data? Would you like to see data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics and elsewhere presented in interesting ways? Then demographic intelligence form .id may be for you. Check out their profile of Campsie, for example.
  • This week’s suggested follow: Would you like another YouTube channel? How about Our Own Devices by Gilles Messier? “Ever wonder how a rotary telephone works, how sailors and pilots navigated by the stars, or how mechanical calculators perform complex math using only gears? Then you’ve come to the right place! Our Own Devices is a channel dedicated to the fascinating world of vintage technology, and the many elegant and ingenious ways our ancestors solved even the most complex technical problems.”

The Week Ahead

The busy month of March continues, and then runs into April. Monday through Wednesday this week is a mix of client work, podcast post-production, and yet more unpacking. I’ll also be compiling a proper list of my supporters in preparation for The Great Unboxening to begin in earnest. Maybe there will be a second video livestream this week, or maybe not.

The Weekly Cybers newsletter will be on Thursday this week, because Friday will be Good Friday and the start of a four-day weekend. I’ll also be posting an episode of Another Untitled Music Podcast which consists of the four Sunday Single episodes we’d previously posted, because Mixcloud doesn’t allow shows shorter than 15 minutes.

I’ll also post the episode of the Edict I’ve already recorded with  Dr Alice Gorman and Rami Mandow, and yes it’s another episode about space things.

At some point on the long weekend Snarky Platypus and I will record a new episode of AUMP, to be posted the following week.
