My week of Monday 1 to Sunday 7 December 2025 saw some unseasonable heat, hitting 40°C in Sydney’s inner south-west, and some annoying technical difficulties. But at least the season’s crowdfunder seems to be doing OK. And I went to a pub.
Also, the live show from ATARASHII GAKKO! was fantastic and the crowd went off, and I really enjoyed the work-in-progress show from comedian Takashi Wakasugi. Both are highly recommended.
FINAL DAYS: Please support The 9pm Summer Series 2025
Yes, there’s just three days left to support this season’s crowdfunding campaign.
Please pledge your support to The 9pm Summer Series 2025.
It provides my income while I produce special-guest episodes of The 9pm Edict and Another Untitled Music Podcast, and it supports my life generally.
Last weekend we hit Target One, thank you. That means we’ll have at least four special-guest episodes of The 9pm Edict across summer, and a yet-to-be-decided number of episodes of Another Untitled Music Podcast.
But there’s more to go, so do consider helping us get to Target Two and beyond — because right now we’re stalled at 75% of Target Two
This season’s campaign has been shorter than usual so please act quickly. You only have until 9pm AEDT this Wednesday 10 December.
Podcasts
I’m been trying to catch up onboard the podcast backlog, but this week there were technical problems beyond my control.
- The 9pm Social Media Ban and the Special Duck with Justin Warren, recorded on Thursday last week and posted this Wednesday.
- I have an episode of Another Untitled Music Podcast ready to post, but for a week now there’s been a technical problem at the hosting provider and they haven’t been responding to communication. I may well have to figure out a Plan B, which is annoying. Stay tuned.
The 9pm Edict and Another Untitled Music Podcast are supported by the generosity of you, their listeners. Please consider supporting them. You can to throw a few coins into the tip jar directly or subscribe for special benefits. There’s also some specific benefits for supporting AUMP.

None of these. You can subscribe to my YouTube channel to be notified when new videos appear and when livestreams are scheduled — and there’s one coming up very soon!
Some Interesting Links
Just a few this week. I’ll have a bumper set next week.
- From The Straits Times, Cyclone Senyar was rare for S-E Asia – could a storm like it ever hit Singapore?. You’ll probably learn a bunch about climate and weather, even if you don’t particularly care for the Singapore focus.
- American student ends up trapped in giant vagina sculpture.
- And of course we have this year’s livestream of the Gävlebocken (the Gävle Goat). I give it a 40% chance son burning the ground.
The Week Ahead
Monday will be about planning and administrivia and a whole raft of small tasks, including some errands in Katoomba. I’ll also be taking care of the final tasks in a client project.
On Tuesday night I’ll be running The 9pm Q&A Live, a video livestream during which I’ll talk about some of my plans and answer your questions. I’ll probably also show you some bird and critter videos. It kicks off at 9pm AEDT. I haven’t done a livestream for ages so this should be fun — at least for me.
On Wednesday night I’ll be wrapping up this season’s crowdfunding campaign.
During this time I’ll also be fixing the hosting for Another Untitled Music Podcast. After a promising start, the existing provider has proved unreliable, which is disappointing to say the least. The podcast’s production schedule is therefore somewhat fluid. The new episodes will appear when they can.
I’ll also be organising a few episodes of The 9pm Edict for summer. Stay tuned.
Saturday will be yet another day of assisting with the apartment hunting down in Sydney, as well as helping two friends celebrate their respective birthdays. And on Sunday I’ll collapse.
Further Ahead
- NEW: Sydney Days, 24 December 2025 to 4 January 2026, some of which will involve being hissed at by a cat.
- I’ve pencilled in a recording of Another Untitled Music Podcast on 28 December, to be posted a couple of days later. The weekly Sunday Single episodes will continue across summer.
- The 9pm Edict recording with Snarky Platypus, 29 December 2025, in which we’ll review our bingo card for 2025. This episode will be posted on New Year’s Eve, and our 2026 bingo card will be posted the following day.
