And now Crikey story filed!

@benmoretti Not sure how Nazi book burning can be used to illustrate the Streisand Effect.

via Twitter Web Client

New Matilda article filed!

via Twitter Web Client

@SnarkyPlatypus I have sent you link to pictures on the Internet. Is that not meaningful enough?

via Twitter Web Client in reply to SnarkyPlatypus

@SnarkyPlatypus I can solve your moral dilemma. We have gym tomorrow. You will be fit enough then.

via Twitter Web Client in reply to SnarkyPlatypus

@safzoro Alas, like anything legal, a 140-word summary would leave out important subtleties. Maybe I should do a pop-up http://libertus.net/

via Twitter Web Client in reply to safzoro

@fictillius I don’t know quite how to respond to that suggestion. :)

via Twitter Web Client in reply to fictillius

@vardenrhode Heh! I should also re-plug the top of http://libertus.net/ since the first 4 links answer most questions.

via Twitter Web Client in reply to vardenrhode

@peter_tonoli Of course, you can bounce URLs thru shortening services several times… ;)

via Twitter Web Client

For a clear and not too long explanation of Australia’s existing Internet censorship system, try http://bit.ly/ZyVUM

via Twitter Web Client

@peter_tonoli ACMA lists URLs not whole sites. And Twitter is hosted outside Australia so it’d be blacklisted rather than the host fined.

via Twitter Web Client in reply to peter_tonoli

@facibus Maybe I should become a stooge. It wold help pay the bills. Being @GreenJ’s minion buys only so much snuff and hookers.

via Twitter Web Client in reply to facibus

@Nickhodge @WoollyMittens Yeah, what the stooge from Microsoft said. ;)

via Twitter Web Client

@WoollyMittens “Flip4Mac Windows Media Plugin 2.2.1”, it says in Firefox.

via Twitter Web Client in reply to WoollyMittens

@WoollyMittens I’m watching the parliamentary broadcasts just fine on OS X. [shrugs] I guess I have stuff installed so it works.

@BiteTheDust Oh dear. The Gibson Desert clearly does strange things to the mind… You have my deepest sympathies, Sir!

via Twitter Web Client in reply to BiteTheDust

Hmmm… An image just flashed through my mind linking “streaming” and “Anna Bligh” and “video” I want it not to be there.

via Twitter Web Client

@BiteTheDust Streamed since at least 2002, says @smperris. Google just told me QLD state parliament started streaming in 2007.

via Twitter Web Client in reply to BiteTheDust

@BiteTheDust Um, federal parliament has been streamed from their website for a couple of years or more, IIRC.

via Twitter Web Client in reply to BiteTheDust

Yes, Senator Pratt! GO THE ROCK LOBSTER! http://bit.ly/ZYMJ

via Twitter Web Client

Fading relatively fast. What a day!

via Twitter Web Client

Joyous irony! URL of banned WikiLeaks page published on DBCDE blog! http://bit.ly/JNkZE

via Twitter Web Client

@duncanriley He’s wrong about the “whole site”, agreed. LOTS of people make that mistake. But the law? That argument seems OK. IANAL.

via Twitter Web Client in reply to duncanriley

Brendan Scott asks how a list of URLs can be “prohibited” content, with like, laws and stuff. http://bit.ly/10nDL

Thank you all for the compliments on my pieces for Crikey and New Matilda today. I feel… special.

via Twitter Web Client

@mpesce Thank you, but it would have been even moar awesummer with moar grass-mud horse!

via Twitter Web Client in reply to mpesce

@mpesce Bugger. I meant to mention grass-mud horse in my Crikey piece today. Oh well, for the follow-up. ;)

via Twitter Web Client in reply to mpesce

@StephenEdgar @GreenJ Crikey’s Magic Cock-up Fairies have done their work! Not to be confused with Crikey’s Magic Cock Fairies. Different.

via Twitter Web Client

@StephenEdgar @jeamland Note: I am not Guy Rundle. ;) I have a… different psychosis. @GreenJ is the editor. Telling me is slower.

via Twitter Web Client

RT @firstdogonmoon: “The member for Higgins is not being helpful at all!” [What, they just noticed?]

via Twitter Web Client

@StephenEdgar Um, what are you quoting there? I know Wikileaks ain’t anything to do with Wikipedia. I called it “a whistleblower site”.

via Twitter Web Client in reply to netweb

@firstdogonmoon You are SO going to get complaints about it, though. There shall be umbrage a’plenty!

via Twitter Web Client in reply to firstdogonmoon

@firstdogonmoon Jesus saying “I didn’t turn the water into Bacardi Fucking Breezers, did I”? is definitely the quote of the day!

via Twitter Web Client

@jeamland Have you found the typo in my Crikey story yet, you pedantic bastard?

via Twitter Web Client in reply to jeamland

@jeamland Poo. Another typo. But it’s not every day I get to mention tentacle-rape and Clive Hamilton in the same par. http://bit.ly/9wiee

via Twitter Web Client in reply to jeamland

@SilkCharm Hey if I can’t be useful, I might as well be a smartarse.

via Twitter Web Client in reply to SilkCharm

You poor possums. You’ll be overwhelmed with quality stories about politicogeekery. Will you cope?

Me in New Matilda on Fake Stephen Conroy: “Well That’s Awkward” http://bit.ly/9wiee

via Twitter Web Client

@deconstructo Well there is both me and Guy Rundle on the same theme (ish) today. So be afraid. Be very afraid.

via Twitter Web Client in reply to deconstructo

@mpesce Yes, though nuclear explosions are strangely beautiful too. Here’s one of my favourites. http://xrl.us/yehaa

via Twitter Web Client in reply to mpesce

@davesag I did ask for non-tech, but in a later tweet which was probably lost in the flood. Anyway, all filed now.

via Twitter Web Client in reply to davesag

@middleclassgirl I’ve indeed been busy. I nearly had a 3rd story but @GreenJ imagined the risks of a double dose of me in one Crikey. ;)

via Twitter Web Client in reply to AnnabelAstbury

@SilkCharm Um, I’ve already filed the story, dear. Things move a little faster in the real media than in Pink Lalaland. :P

via Twitter Web Client in reply to SilkCharm

@GreenJ Remember, Whac-a-Mole does NOT have a “k”. This is serious journalism.

via Twitter Web Client

@HappySinger There HAVE been conservative attempts to censor the US Internet, but they fail due to the Right to Freedom of Speech there.

via Twitter Web Client in reply to HappySinger

@benmoretti Yeah a bit of a long bow. Examples in an article of few hundred words need to be explainable in a sentence or two.

via Twitter Web Client

@SilkCharm Your examples are good, particularly the videos that just keep on spreading. :) They’ll go into the extended mix version. ;)

via Twitter Web Client in reply to SilkCharm

@erkpod No, I am NOT ready myself. However I will be by the time that readiness is required. Probably.

via Twitter Web Client in reply to erkpod

@jeamland They’re all interesting suggestions, but nominations don’t count unless they’re at the website, with reasons. http://bit.ly/35Btk5

via Twitter Web Client in reply to jeamland

@benmoretti Ah, yes, I tweeted about the Gloria Jeans / Hillsong connection earlier. :) http://bit.ly/44h3s6

via Twitter Web Client

Are you ready for episode 40 of “Stilgherrian Live”? Nominations open for “Cnut of the Week”! http://bit.ly/35Btk5 Only website noms count.

via Twitter Web Client

@AussieKen There have been murmurings of a “Stilgherrian Even Liver” with a live audience, but it’d be a different beast. Ssh! SECRITS!

via Twitter Web Client in reply to AussieKen

@chieftech Well, the performance of 100Mbit DSL is still dependent on the ISP’s links outwards. You get what you pay for etc.

RT @kerryank: The Definition of Irony: http://tinyurl.com/cfykxa DET NSW has a YouTube Channel… (DET blocks YouTube, you see.)

via Twitter Web Client

@KingCnut Ah yes, we should talk about Cnut t-shirts and “Cnut of the Week” and all. Ping me stil@stilgherrian.com and we’ll work it.

via Twitter Web Client in reply to KingCnut

@Dianne_ @rvowles @ragnarok1971 Barbra Streisand, Leonard Nimoy, Cybil Shepard… you’re not extending the net very far, are you?

via Twitter Web Client

@cowspanker Also, RT works better if the RTd tweet starts “I” or “Me”: it makes it clear that the tweet is about someone else.

via Twitter Web Client in reply to cowspanker

@GreenJ “Uniform allowance”? I DO keep offering to dress up for you, JUST for you, but you deny me. Endlessly. Why is that?

via Twitter Web Client in reply to GreenJ

Speaking of “Stilgherrian Live”, it was William Alan Shatner featured last week. Who this week?

via Twitter Web Client

@trib I suspect I’ll chat at some length about @stephenconroy on “Stilgherrian Live” tonight. It seems to be The Story of The Week.

via Twitter Web Client in reply to trib

@cpanczak Gloria Jeans is like Starbucks in intent, but is also connected to Hillsong Church. My thoughts on them: http://bit.ly/n6bzG

via Twitter Web Client in reply to cpanczak

@kimberleighs Erm, no, it was @kcarruthers at Gloria Jeans. I was indeed commenting upon her choice. Obviously not clearly enough. ;)

via Twitter Web Client in reply to kimberleighs

@druey “Stilgherrian Live” on a 42-inch screen still seems scary. I’ll try to be “up close and personal” just for you guys.

via Twitter Web Client in reply to drueyjay

@facibus Maybe should compile a list of words which, when used, automatically create a sense of unease.

via Twitter Web Client in reply to facibus

Thu plan: Once I start it, a hell stressful desk day trying to sort out urgent revenue problems; “Stilgherrian Live” at 9.30pm Sydney time.

via Twitter Web Client

@facibus I’d be happier if you said ‘uncomfortable WITH the term “full service digital agency”,’ not “around”. But yes, it IS wrong.

via Twitter Web Client in reply to facibus

Folks who were “concerned” about @stephenconroy might wish to consider this comment from @ericscheid: http://bit.ly/I5ZB7

via Twitter Web Client

@middleclassgirl Well even in a retweet I don’t want my tweets looking like the work of an illiterate cud-muncher. Repairs shall be done.

via Twitter Web Client in reply to AnnabelAstbury

RT @middleclassgirl: Costello will use “Sexy is the Word” for his campaign. [I bags directing the music video. In the Dutch style.]

via Twitter Web Client

@SnarkyPlatypus This is not to be confused with the Howard Jones song of the same name. http://bit.ly/7WzmW

via Twitter Web Client in reply to SnarkyPlatypus

@SnarkyPlatypus You are correct. D:ream’s “Things Can Only Get Better” was Tony Blair’s campaign theme song in 1997. http://bit.ly/CsgMz

via Twitter Web Client in reply to SnarkyPlatypus

I just realised the photo of Senator Conroy in my New Matilda article http://bit.ly/9wiee is just like my seagull avatar. Coincidence?

@middleclassgirl Ooooohhh… Now now. Sounds like someone needs the special attentions of Mr Broom Handle this morning!

via Twitter Web Client in reply to SnarkyPlatypus

RT @kcarruthers: I’m at Gloria Jeans having what could possibly the worst coffee in Australia. [I don’t know where to BEGIN to start there!]

via Twitter Web Client

RT @kcarruthers: I never let facts stand in the way of shrieking at @stilgherrian. [Yeah, but I have a hammer.]

via Twitter Web Client

Oh, I see that the universe needs rearranging is a few ways. Again. Hammer, please.

via Twitter Web Client

I must escape. Adverbially. [exit]

via Twitter Web Client

See, @lindsayevans knows and everyone else is an idiot.

via Twitter Web Client

RT @lindsayevans: A pronoun is a noun that is paid for being nouny.

via Twitter Web Client

@stephenconroy @kcarruthers Pronouns can be fractious. As can hookers.

via Twitter Web Client

Once, just once, how about a website for “eco” products that isn’t freshly-mown-grass green and pastel blue? Unimaginative twats.

via Twitter Web Client
