@nickgilbert The Oz’s story explains, eventually, where they got the $400 per room figure from.

via TweetDeck in reply to nickgilbert__

@nickgilbert Think of the ports in the NBN’s CPE like Telstra’s existing wall socket. You’d still need service-specific hardware.

via TweetDeck in reply to nickgilbert__

@nickgilbert The NBN CPE isn’t a router as such. Layer 2 not layer 3. It has Ethernet ports, but you plug in your ISP’s / your router.

via TweetDeck in reply to nickgilbert__

The Oz: “NBN wiring could cost up to $400 a room”. Uhuh. Just like a new car could cost “up to $600k”. Misleading. http://arseh.at/111

@jasonlangenauer Ah, we’ve discovered a new sport: creating more appropriate arseh.at URLs for the things we link to. It’d be very grown-up.

Fri plan: Many little client webby tasks, emails, notes etc, punctuated by a lunch break; 1200 record for “A Series of Tubes”; TGIF.

Here you go. The iChair. There’s an iPad in the picture so it’s compulsory to RT, isn’t it. http://arseh.at/10x

@SnarkyPlatypus @jasonlangenauer I don’t think Hyacinth would ever let John move beyond class resentment issues. It’s the entire dynamic.

@SnarkyPlatypus @jasonlangenauer Ah, the worst insult Howard can think of. “Elitist.” Always the little chap who felt left out. Amusing.

via TweetDeck

@SnarkyPlatypus Bonjour. Je suis préoccupé par la qualité de la pensée. Il est peu de substance. Et vous?

via TweetDeck in reply to SnarkyPlatypus

Ah, 29 hours 7 minutes…

via TweetDeck

Lizards, mostly. Gone.

via TweetDeck

@SnarkyPlatypus No, edit@zdnet.com.au is just a generic address for the editorial team there. I am protected from the proles.

@natecochrane Sometimes things happen via Twitter and I don’t see them. It’s a terrible business.

via TweetDeck in reply to natecochrane

That is actually confirmed, I’m told. I guess that’s an advantage of watching television, or something. Thanks @natecochrane @cjjosh

via TweetDeck

Just heard, unconfirmed, that SBS Insight next Tuesday is NBN with S Conroy, M Turnbull, A Windsor.

via TweetDeck

Actually, serious bonus points to @DBCDEgov for responding to public concerns late on a Friday afternoon.

via TweetDeck

OK, bonus points to @DBCDEgov for updating that their site and explaining their position. http://arseh.at/11t

via TweetDeck

I’ve emailed DBCDE to ask why they’re logging access to policy documents at http://arseh.at/11d counter to National Privacy Principle 1.

via TweetDeck

@SnarkyPlatypus Indeed, Channel 7’s cancellation of “City Homicide” is part of what triggered that comment.

via TweetDeck in reply to SnarkyPlatypus

I agree @natecochrane. Finer segmentation and targetting of audience is gold. Unless you’re still stuck in “under 1M audience is fail” mode.

via TweetDeck

Dear Television Industry, more channels means less audience people per channel. You WILL have to adjust to this, you fucking morons.

via TweetDeck

RT @danielstone: I am currently typing this tweet. [Which is pathetic, when you know you should be drinking.]

via TweetDeck

But @thetowncrier “Hey Hey It’s Saturday” is “the most original Australian format on TV”! http://arseh.at/11o

via TweetDeck

@peterjblack “Judicial Science”? WTF? BHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!1!1!!!!

via TweetDeck in reply to peterjblack

Don’t they fart in Bathurst, @latikambourke? There’s a documentary in that! I shall seek Australia Council cultural funding!

via TweetDeck

Hey @latikambourke a magnitude 2.8 earthquake is half a notch above a decent fart. A thousand a day. http://arseh.at/11n

via TweetDeck

But @thetowncrier the nation is gifting you Medicare, Afghanistan, Bondi Vet, Barnaby Joyce, Hey Hey It’s Saturday… what more do you need?

via TweetDeck

@fictillius I generally record the key “Patch Monday ” items on Friday but I’m late this week so I’d record Saturday. Or 0730 / 0800 Monday.

via TweetDeck in reply to fictillius

Of course the chances of anyone still being at the Crikey office at this time on a Friday, let alone sober, is a long shot.

via TweetDeck

Hey @crikey_news I reckon today’s @firstdogonmoon cartoon should be a gift to the nation, don’t you @sophblack @thetowncrier? Who’s with me?

via TweetDeck

@fictillius Yes, you are indeed a network admin. Have you done much with cabling guys recently? Are you authorised to speak to the media?

via TweetDeck in reply to fictillius

@purserj Maybe not me interview my editor, but perhaps my editor could interview me. Dunno, Still thinking about options.

via TweetDeck in reply to purserj

Further details of SBS TV’s “Insight” on the NBN next Tuesday. http://arseh.at/11j HT @johnluu

via TweetDeck

Silly thing is, I AM a network admin, but media convention is that one doesn’t interview oneself. Unless I put on a funny voice.

via TweetDeck

@dsturnbull I reckon there’d be a few offices in light industrial areas still with 10Mb Ethernet and Windows XP and nothing but MYOB.

via TweetDeck in reply to dsturnbull

Mobile: Enmore Rd; King St; lunch; quiet spot for end-of-week wrap-up.

via TweetDeck

Maybe for “Patch Monday” I should talk to a network admin about what you really need (or don’t) to upgrade your LAN for the NBN. Any takers?

via TweetDeck

Indeed @caelyxsec DBCDE is pretty much in breach of National Privacy Principle 1 right there. I may email them later.

via TweetDeck

@AndrewRiddle36 I doubt that the details of how a Departmental website is set up has anything to do with Senator Conroy.

via TweetDeck in reply to AndrewRiddle36

I mean to say, just looking at a policy document causes “the government” to make a record? Ahem!

via TweetDeck

Mind you, DBCDE shouldn’t be tracking who’s downloading the discussion paper. Invasion of privacy much? http://arseh.at/11d
