Well if you’re all watching that bullshit TV program then I’ll go to bed. Gone.

Slothing in my SEKRIT Sydney location. Despairing for humanity.

Mike__Stuchbery Jonathan, darling, measure 15cm from the top of the webpage. Everything under that isn’t news. That’s my rule and it works.

Sometimes website commenters make me want to stab them.

RT @franksting: There’s a reason the 80s was called the 80s people. So you can leave the shit there.

@gavincostello Glad you liked my debut piece for CRN, given I wrote it while still suffering from an annoying fever. http://su.pr/2s27mx

Apparently “innocent until proven guilty” doesn’t apply if you have cash. http://arseh.at/4xc

@R_Chirgwin Directions hearings can be dull but Apple will be explaining why their stuff has to be confidential. There could be fun moments.

Pondering dinner plans, given that I’m in Sydney tonight for the Federal Magistrates Court tomorrow, amongst other things.

@wolfcat Facebook. Facebook? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!1!!!

via TweetDeck in reply to wolfcat

True, @rossdawson, LeGuin made her point lucidly and using The Words, but I agree with @viveka that it was less convincing than expected.

RT @simongarlick: I think UKL’s post could otherwise have been “Get Off My Lawn”. [I kinda had that feeling too. It saddened me a bit.]

via TweetDeck

“Would You Please Fucking Stop?” says Ursula K Le Guin. http://arseh.at/4x9 I’m not sure I agree.

New blog post, late: “Weekly Wrap 40” http://arseh.at/4x8 The usual catch-up links to stuff I did last week.

@rorybaust I think it’s reasonable to assume that Apple’s pockets are somewhat deeper than Jigsaw’s. This will doubtless drag on.

via TweetDeck in reply to rorybaust

@beeso It’s worth listening to @Idealaw’s comments in the podcast, where she quotes the relevant law. http://arseh.at/4x2

via TweetDeck

@beeso It doesn’t work that way. Apple must take reasonable steps to avoid violating copyright. Relying on developers’ word may not suffice.

via TweetDeck in reply to beeso

I guess it’s worth pointing out again that just ‘cos a corporation asserts something in a contract doesn’t mean it’ll stand up in court.

via TweetDeck

@jasonlangenauer I try not to keep track of what I’m taking about. It adds to the sense of excitement.

via TweetDeck

@beeso You’ve missed the point. The very nub of the case is whether Apple can absolve themselves of liability by blaming the developer.

via TweetDeck in reply to beeso

Actually my Crikey piece is open to all. I was too fast. “‘Arrogant’ Apple faces copyright suit over iPhone app content” http://arseh.at/4x3

via TweetDeck

@jasonlangenauer How old do you prefer them to be when you ride them?

via TweetDeck

Doing my invoicing on the train, thanks to the technologies of Telstra Next G and Saasu. I’m not sure if this is good or bad.

OH: “By the time she’s a young adult she’ll either have moved out of home and be fine or in therapy.”

OH: “I never thought I’d be one of those mothers standing in the playground losing it at the top of my voice. But there you go.”

Mobile: Railway Pde; Wentworth Falls station; Newtown station, eventually; errands Enmore Rd & King St; remainder TBA.

New “Patch Monday” podcast: “‘Arrogant’ Apple battles over copyright”, also new IIA anti-piracy code. http://arseh.at/4x2

Met at ZDNet: “Apple, Oz TV firm copyright mediation fails” http://arseh.at/4x1

via TweetDeck

Crikey story filed. That’s the morning’s media stuff done. Whew!

via TweetDeck

@R_Chirgwin Chances are I won’t be here at 4pm. I’m doing errands in Sydney this arvo and will probably stay overnight. Is a run needed?

via TweetDeck in reply to R_Chirgwin

“Patch Monday” podcast filed. ZDNet story filed. And now onto the Crikey story. Ah, Monday mornings!

via TweetDeck

@R_Chirgwin Not that gloomy. Battery 48.4V charger 0.4kW top left, bottom right thing showing 87V in, 483W load. Generator run needed?

via TweetDeck in reply to R_Chirgwin

@awelder I doubt that I’ll find any “real info” about Japan. I’m not looking for it. I’ve no desire to immerse myself in others’ disasters.

via TweetDeck in reply to awelder

Mon plan: Write for ZDNet; write for Crikey; train to Sydney for various errands; probably stay in Sydney overnight.

It’s 25 years since Microsoft floated. Here’s Fortune’s cover story from 21 July 1986. http://arseh.at/4wv

via TweetDeck

I won’t be RTing anything about Japan. As with all disasters, there’s enough people re-bleating random crap and disaster porn uncritically.

Jean-Louis Gassée @gassee on HP’s “WebOS Everywhere” strategy. He seems unimpressed. http://arseh.at/4wu

Hello, Monday. I have some decisions to make about you. Stand by.
