Oh gawd, there’s a pic @RealNickHodge and me on the Eurovision special edition of “Stilgherrian Live”. http://flic.kr/p/6oPpip

I had a Mauser once, @RealNickHodge, a .22 single-shot sporting rifle from the late 1920s. I should get a gun again some time, I reckon.

via TweetDeck

Oi @RealNickHodge! How the fuck did that photo get onto the internets? That’s from the first half of the 1980s somewhen, IIRC.

via TweetDeck

@NewtonMark I’m fairly sure that @garthk is in a category all on his own. /cc @jplonie

via TweetDeck

You’re way off target, @NewtonMark @jplonie, back then I wore almost nothing except black.

@Scotty_Marshall And just think, all the community-building that “The Core” did was years before we had the web. Imagine… but no.

via TweetDeck in reply to Scotty_Marshall

What I still love about that recording is the stray note [“Peep!”] that no-one noticed until after the vinyl was pressed.

via TweetDeck

We’re reminiscing, so I’ll admit it. 20 years later I’m still outrageously pleased to be executive producer of http://youtu.be/yuvBzx1E…

via TweetDeck

@Scotty_Marshall Oh dear! Not another from “The Core” days. And with a full set? Man, there must be so many of them!

via TweetDeck in reply to Scotty_Marshall

@Scotty_Marshall I’m certain the bulk of our readership was teenage boys. Saw kids reading it at the bus stop every Wed arvo. Satisfying.

via TweetDeck in reply to Scotty_Marshall

@Scotty_Marshall I did eventually realise how significant “The Core” was, in its own way, in its own little pond. It launched Oct 1991.

via TweetDeck in reply to Scotty_Marshall

Gosh, to think that 20 years ago I was at [insider reference alert] the core of new techno and now I rarely listen to any music.

via TweetDeck

My old friends at @undergroundres in Detroit seem to be responsible for this fine techno track and video. http://youtu.be/fmD6Ke3r…

I suspect I have the right kind of bitter old crankiness to be a chief sub. I certainly drink enough.

via TweetDeck

Goodness me, can people please distinguish between a statement BY police and a statement TO police? There’s a good media. [pats]

As Chinese is to Chinglish, so Spanish is to Spanglish, I guess? Beware the ocean liner! http://arseh.at/913

Every time someone uses the word “medacity” I have to look it up. Also “quotidian”. That’s two words already. Alzheimer’s not far away now.

“Hackgate: The Movie” with, I agree, excellent casting. http://youtu.be/wFufrqhp…

via TweetDeck

I’m returning to Wentworth Falls tomorrow. Looks like I missed an 18C day there today, and will have max temps of 10C down to 8C this week.

via TweetDeck

RT @derekbarry: Well of course I come up first on a Google search of “Hammurabi lycanthropy” [Of course. Try “neo-con sex kitten”.]

via TweetDeck

@prestontowers Oh no dramas. I agree about the irrelevance of polls, what @jayrosen_nyu calls horse-race reporting. And about triumphalism.

via TweetDeck in reply to prestontowers

@prestontowers Well, a first time for me. Your other gripes aren’t on my radar. It’s 10pm Sunday, the bitterness grated. [shrugs]

via TweetDeck in reply to prestontowers

@prestontowers But to answer the question, I thought the dead hamster line was mildly funny and worth re-using, in that context or another.

via TweetDeck in reply to prestontowers

@prestontowers See, it’s that kind of nastiness that causes me to avoid talking about politics. Not impressed. /cc @anthonybaxter

via TweetDeck

@TommyTudehope I may be forced to steal that hamster line some time soon. If I am sober at the time, I’ll credit you.

“Patch Monday” podcast filed. I forgot to actually upload it earlier. At least that’s done.

via TweetDeck

@SMinney Oh I’m not actually THINKING about Google yet. That’s for the morning. If someone pays for it. /cc @thomasrdotorg @einspruch

via TweetDeck

Yep, @thomasrdotorg @einspruch, Google made another heap of money. I’ll decide tomorrow morning if I can be arsed writing that.

via TweetDeck

RT @expectproblems: If their earnings increased, can you make a joke about it being “google+”? [That sounds kinda compulsory, so yes.]

via TweetDeck

Oh, did I miss Google’s quarterly earnings call on Friday? I suppose I’d better write something about that.

via TweetDeck

First signs of declining car use in cities are being observed, at least in developed cities. http://arseh.at/910

via TweetDeck

@ethankaminski Correct. It’s just a copper wire from home to DSLAM. Filtering is content layer, “layer 3”, physically in the core network.

via TweetDeck in reply to ethankaminski

@DowntownNewtown Oh no grief. You’re welcome. And yes, that does seem to be the first Google Images result. I’m surprised.

via TweetDeck in reply to DowntownNewtown

@ethankaminski TPG’s “last mile” for DSL is Telstra’s copper network back to TPG DSLAMS in the exchange. It’s the same for almost all ISPs.

via TweetDeck

@DowntownNewtown So, your Twitter avatar is this photo here? http://arseh.at/90y [coughs]

via TweetDeck

If I had a box of Xanax I think I’d start handing ‘em around about now. Actually, I’d need a whole crate.

via TweetDeck

@Asher_Wolf ISPs choosing to use the Interpol list would agree to display a block page that looks like this. http://arseh.at/90v

via TweetDeck in reply to Asher_Wolf

@Asher_Wolf However, the ONLY list that ISPs have been talking about filtering against is this Interpol list. http://arseh.at/8hn

via TweetDeck in reply to Asher_Wolf

Me at CSO: “Quintet nations agree on cybercrime action plan”. They like Australia’s “zombie code”. http://arseh.at/90u

via TweetDeck

@Asher_Wolf “Who is TPG licensing their network from?” If you meant “filter”, TPG says they’re NOT filtering. http://arseh.at/90t

via TweetDeck in reply to Asher_Wolf

Indeed, @lapuntadelfin, it renders OK in Safari 5.0.5 but not Firefix 5.0.1 for OS X. And my Care Factor on the entire issue just ran out.

Have a look at this report from the W3 validation service on the sanfordberman.org home page. http://arseh.at/90s

@M1ssMatrix I’ll have to look up that song when I’m not on mobile bandwidth. I don’t know it.

@garthk I have been informed that Australia Post dropped their telegram products in March this year. “Priceless”?

via TweetDeck in reply to garthk

No, it’s not a Rickroll unless there’s an attempt to deceive, or at least surprise. Please do not debase the word.

via TweetDeck

Fuck. The pub is playing Rick Astley. If I have to hear it, so do you. http://arseh.at/90n

@moldor I don’t see anyone being able to offer virtual fax for less than $9.95/month. There are minimum billing and support costs.

via TweetDeck in reply to moldor

That’ll make a change from my series of fucked-up decisions in recent months.

via TweetDeck

I think I am going to be pleased with my decision.

via TweetDeck

Mobile again. I’m not saying where I’m going this time. I fear jinxing it.

via TweetDeck

@moldor Ah, thru Exetel. That explains it. The minimum costs of billing etc are already covered ‘cos you’re already a customer.

RT @bronwen: A tug at the heart-strings http://bit.ly/obTkEp [Stop that. I saw what you did there, young lady!]

via TweetDeck

Probably no gonzo tweeting today, @CameronCollie, I do have a couple things to finish before the morning. But you’re right, been too long.

via TweetDeck

@moldor May I ask who your $0.10 per page virtual fax is through? Is there a minimum? Surely the indial number has a charge?

RT @peter_tonoli: I’m not convinced I know who I’m doing business with when dealing with Facebook / Google [Fair point.]

The kitchen at the Royal Hotel, Leichhardt, is not open on Sunday. So, liquid lunch then?

via TweetDeck

Mobile: Walk to Leichhardt; probably lunch at the Royal Hotel; shopping; somewhere to do some writing, which may be said pub. I have NFI.

@Kieran_Murphy I receive faxes from a client authorising payment by Amex. Another quaintly faxes a remittance advice when they pay a bill.

via TweetDeck in reply to Kieran_Murphy

@Kieran_Murphy I send faxes when a compliance process won’t accept email. Typically documents to a court or court-like entity.

via TweetDeck in reply to Kieran_Murphy

Just finished producing “Patch Monday” podcast, interview with Amazon’s CTO @Werner Vogels. It’ll be posted mid-morning tomorrow AEST.

via TweetDeck

Just got billed my quarterly $29.85 for virtual fax service. Ignoring spam, that’s 4 faxes received, 1 sent. Terrific value for money.
