Tactical error. I’ll try again in the morning.

Blond boy wears a badge, “Finally 21, buy me a drink.” At a guess, at least 37 people have done so already.

via Cloudhopper

Android says that HALLUCINOGENS must be in all-caps, and who am I to argue?

via Cloudhopper

Oh here we go. Let me say up front, I’m doing this without safety net or HALLUCINOGENS…

via Cloudhopper

Midnight in Las Vegas. Script is written. I shall now head out onto the strip to record podcast links and, possibly, maybe, have a drink.

via TweetDeck

@JonoH @jdub I think I can still live without the slot machine, ute or no ute.

via TweetDeck in reply to JonoH

RT @ashadihopper: Related videos include Gaddafi’s final moments… [Yes, I saw that. That’s just slightly creepy…]

via TweetDeck

The podcast script? Yes, it IS getting written. Shut up, don’t question me.

via TweetDeck

Look, @jdub, send $100 down the slots, or $100 down-range as 7.62mm NATO rounds. What would YOU choose?

via TweetDeck

@SnarkyPlatypus I have already suggested an appropriate response. Well, appropriate for Nevada.

via TweetDeck in reply to SnarkyPlatypus

So, here’s 33 seconds of me with a 9mm. My handgun technique is shit. youtu.be/ZCldL3q4u-Q

via TweetDeck

RT @PrincessFluffy: It’s never a good idea to go to IKEA. [And I’m astounded that we have to keep telling people this.]

via TweetDeck

@SnarkyPlatypus Au contraire, Mr Nine Millimetre can be quite personal. Certainly more personal than Mr Standard NATO Round.

via TweetDeck in reply to SnarkyPlatypus

RT @safzoro: No beer til you get your script written. [You do not understand The Power of Room Service.]

via TweetDeck

So, I’m getting so much of this script written. I really am.

via TweetDeck

@macleanbrendan @TomCBallard If you start deleting your tweets that would put you into very unpleasant company. Gutless company.

via TweetDeck in reply to macleanbrendan

RT @kcarruthers: time for some radical simplification I think [I was practicing for that earlier today.]

via TweetDeck

@macleanbrendan @TomCBallard “Drama queen”? Maybe. But I know how to use an apostrophe. And an assault rifle.

via TweetDeck in reply to macleanbrendan

@macleanbrendan It’s true. I watched @TomCBallard’s show on the flight here and it’s actually not complete shit. Who knew?

via TweetDeck

OK, it’s 2100. I’d better start writing this script. ‘Cos when it’s finished, I can head out on the strip for a drink. Or, maybe, two.

via TweetDeck

RT @sylmobile: beer or tea? [WFT? Is that even a question?]

via TweetDeck

@jillhill99 OK, next time I encounter some legal… issues… I think I shall call you immediately. ;)

via TweetDeck in reply to jillhill99

@jillhill99 If I’m killing something, it’s not because I want to eat it. It’s because I want it dead. Oh. Did that sound wrong?

via TweetDeck in reply to jillhill99

RT @lewellyn: Are you saying that most app developers should just shoot themselves? [Well, yes. As a start at least. Obviously.]

via TweetDeck

@clintonduncan Please say hello to the Pembo from me, and wish him well.

via TweetDeck in reply to clintonduncan

@jillhill99 I have been reliably informed that a knife is not for me. I shall leave that sort of thing to the professionals.

via TweetDeck in reply to jillhill99

@purserj I fired these weapons arseh.at/lox but I’m fairly sure I saw an M1 Garand on the rack. I’ll ask tomorrow.

via TweetDeck in reply to purserj

MT @kofeyh: I would have thought @stilgherrian was more a Walther PPK kind of guy. [I’ll see if they have one.] /cc @mrgrumpystephen

via TweetDeck

@RealNickHodge You, Sir, have just given me the opening lines for this week’s “Patch Monday” podcast!

via TweetDeck in reply to RealNickHodge

@benmcginnes There was a distinct lack of Matthew Broderick today. Also, can I recommend the film “Glory” at this point?

via TweetDeck in reply to benmcginnes

That Browning 9mm pistol is a 100yo design, yet it still feels like current technology. That’s what iPhone/Android apps should aspire to.

via TweetDeck

Trying to find a decent explanation of the difference between the Browning Lady Hawk (which I fired today) and a standard Browning Hi-Power.

via TweetDeck

@swearyanthony I think that while is on I’ve been doing something more practical today. ;)

via TweetDeck in reply to swearyanthony

@DeanBarnett If the camera fires every shot, cool, except maybe when the guy in the next lane opens up with an M60 at 650 rounds per minute.

via TweetDeck in reply to DeanBarnett

Honestly, @kcarruthers, you sound like this is some sort of dangerous, chaotic, lawless zone. This is Nevada!

via TweetDeck

@DeanBarnett The problem there is that you’re generally not the only person on the range. The camera would fire on the first round fired.

via TweetDeck in reply to DeanBarnett

@DeanBarnett You’re right, I just checked. Shutter speed 1/5s at f3.5, ISO400. I figured flash on the rifle range was… inappropriate.

via TweetDeck in reply to DeanBarnett

@kcarruthers They make you sign a piece of paper to say you’re in a good mood before they give you assault rifles.

via TweetDeck in reply to kcarruthers

Here’s a teaser photo, me firing the M4 carbine, blurry but with muzzle flash, taken by @HamishBarwick flic.kr/p/axRLTK

via TweetDeck

@therevmountain I’ll certainly write up the range visit and post some photos, but I didn’t have a particular story in mind.

via TweetDeck in reply to therevmountain

RT @RealNickHodge: The M-60 beckons you. [Never a truer word was said.]

via TweetDeck

@RealNickHodge Did not do full-auto at any point, though that would have been possible with other weapons. Maybe I should head back…

via TweetDeck in reply to RealNickHodge

I fired a variant of Browning Hi-Power 9mm arseh.at/lot M4 carbine 5.56mm arseh.at/lou FN SCAR 7.62mm arseh.at/lov

via TweetDeck

I really don’t understand why people are so concerned that I have been given access to assault rifles.

via TweetDeck

Ah, a nap and a long hot shower helps! Now, to sort out photos, write the podcast script, and decide where to record iit. Also, drinks.

via TweetDeck

So that was a slightly longer walk in the desert sun than I’d intended. Gatorade consumed, brief siesta initiated.

via TweetDeck

So, before most of you are even awake I’ve indulged myself with Japanese schoolgirls and fired more than 200 rounds of live ammunition…

via TweetDeck

RT @RealNickHodge Is the Leatherneck Club a gay club? [Shall I pop back and find out?]

via TweetDeck

@RealNickHodge Oh, and the cred for this range? Right next to the Leatherneck Club of Greater Nevada.

via TweetDeck in reply to RealNickHodge

@RealNickHodge Oui, Garand. It’s mostly skewed to modern weapons tho, and state certifications to carry.

via TweetDeck in reply to RealNickHodge

@RealNickHodge I saw an M-1 carbine on the rack, and various pistols. M-1 machine pistol, was it? Ye Olde Grease Gun.

via TweetDeck in reply to RealNickHodge

@RealNickHodge Also have video of @HamishBarwick putting rounds into the ceiling for no readily apparent reason.

via TweetDeck in reply to RealNickHodge

@RealNickHodge Glad you enjoyed. There are photos to come, at least of stuff until @HamishBarwick left. Browning 9mm and the M-4.

via TweetDeck in reply to RealNickHodge

@deconstructo There was no AK-47, possibly because they’re shit.

via TweetDeck in reply to deconstructo

Oh they’ve got the whole schoolgirl thing going here.

via Cloudhopper

Nearby is Sushi Kaya. All you can eat sushi, $19.95 lunch, $22.95 dinner. Let’s give them a try…

via Cloudhopper

I can thoroughly recommend American Shooters on Las Vegas. Nice guys, a good range of well-maintained weapons.

via Cloudhopper

But all good things must come to an end.

via TweetDeck

Rolling down my shirt sleeves. Ejected cartridges were bouncing around and they burn.

via TweetDeck

This is a nice weapon, and not as hard to handle as I’d imagined. Good industrial design. Accurate.

via TweetDeck

17 of 20 rounds on target. Also, an M-60 in full auto 1.5m away is FUCKING LOUD. Next mag…

via TweetDeck

Jesus fuck what was that? Oh. The guys next to me have an M-60 light machine gun. I suddenly feel inadequate.

via TweetDeck

I now have an FN SCAR 175 assault rifle, and three magazines of 7.62mm NATO rounds.

via TweetDeck

I have obtained another two magazines of ammunition…

via TweetDeck

And now I have an M-4 assault rifle…

via Cloudhopper

So, I still have the 9mm, but no ammunition. So, what shall I trade it up for?

via TweetDeck

So, I have a Browning 9mm auto and 50 rounds of ammunition. Well, 41 rounds. I’ve already emptied one magazine into… um, a target.

via Cloudhopper

Waiting. In the Agreed Location.

via TweetDeck

Pondering which weapons I should choose today. Thinking a familiar handgun to warm up, then a rifle, then something heavy duty.

via TweetDeck

Mobile. It’s 1000, and the forecast for Las Vegas is 29C and sunny. Coffee, meet @HamishBarwick at 1030, walk to American Shooters.

via TweetDeck

@HamishBarwick Between stories I did a late afternoon / early evening wander down the strip for beers at some dive. Classy stuff.

via TweetDeck in reply to HamishBarwick

@HamishBarwick 1030 in the lobby it is. A walk in the actual open air would be delightful today!

via TweetDeck in reply to HamishBarwick

Fri plan: Prepare audio for “Patch Monday” podcast; 1100 shooting range arseh.at/ln6 with @HamishBarwick; remainder TBA.

via TweetDeck

Right. I’m going to have a Friday now.
