@cyberdrivel @natashamitchell Perhaps, yes. For me, “Anglosphere” is coloured by the topics I write about, so US, UK, AU, CA, NZ.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to cyberdrivel

@natashamitchell I’m tempted to say that Australian media and institutions haven’t kept up with reality full stop. ;) Oh well.

New blog post: “Talking many things on the @reckonerAU podcast, again” stilgherrian.com/conversations/…

via Janetter for Mac

@natashamitchell I sometimes wonder if ABC is any better at getting outside the Anglosphere bubble than it was when I left, 22+ years ago…

via Janetter for Mac in reply to natashamitchell

@natashamitchell A valid but different point. I’d love to see a story count broken down by country, and by disaster vs non-disaster.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to natashamitchell

@natashamitchell Maybe reporting on the communities here themselves might also be a nice idea from time to time, not just distant grief.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to natashamitchell

@natashamitchell I’ve spent a few minutes trying to compress my thoughts into a tweet, but I’ve given up.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to natashamitchell

@natashamitchell This is no jest, nor an off-the-cuff comment. But I’m talking disgust at disaster-porn, you’re… airtime against racism.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to natashamitchell

@kittsy007 @natashamitchell “Surfing the internet” is hardly a burden. And if it’s not “news you can use”, it’s recreational anyway. Ugly.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to kittsy007

@natashamitchell Sure, but how will our lives be improved by wallowing in brown people’s misery as well as the whiteys’?

via Janetter for Mac in reply to natashamitchell

Oh FFS, stop whinging that Australian news doesn’t have enough about India. What’s RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU? The internet! Read Indian news!

RT @sylmobile: Oh, this Internet thing is horribly unwieldy! [It is. Which is why I’m compiling information on how we can shut it down.]

via Janetter for Mac

@sylmobile That’s lovely, thank you, but your text does not relate to your link. At least not very well.

And now “Corrupted Nerds: Conversation 6: The joy of DDoS with Akamai’s Michael Smith” is on SoundCloud. soundcloud.com/corruptednerds

Oh, a new Corrupted Nerds podcast! “The Joy of DDoS with Akamai’s Michael Smith” corruptednerds.com/pod/c00006/ Also on iTunes. SoundCloud shortly.

via Janetter for Mac

@semibogan I only noticed ‘cos I happened to see the Tor-related addresses as I was deleting some warning messages.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to semibogan

@semibogan Meh. Wherever it comes from, it’s the usual random SQL injection crap. mod_security (with some mods) seems to be doing its job.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to semibogan

@semibogan Wasn’t there a news story to the effect that the recent big jump in Tor traffic was mostly botnets?

via Janetter for Mac in reply to semibogan

Actually, it’s a botnet using Tor. There’s at least 10 Tor exit nodes currently involved. Just random SQL injection shit. Happy days.

via Janetter for Mac

Cute. Watching a site getting hit with an SQL injection attack from tor-node.rutgers.edu. God bless anonymity.

via Janetter for Mac

@jplonie I decided to build an audience base and have something to point to before “monetising” [ugh! pig-word!] the podcast.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to jplonie

Corrupted Nerds podcasts are now on SoundCloud soundcloud.com/corruptednerds as well as iTunes itunes.apple.com/au/podcast/cor… (except tonight’s to come).

@swearyanthony And you’re not the one living in the middle of a eucalypt forest. :/

via Janetter for Mac in reply to swearyanthony

Anyway, @leslienassar, historically speaking, most of the time I’ve been the one extinguishing the burning motor vehicles.

via Janetter for Mac

Why are people being so amazed that a flammable objects have caught fire? Did they fail primary school or something?

via Janetter for Mac

Nothing to do with me.

via Janetter for Mac

Corrupted Nerds is now on SoundCloud at soundcloud.com/corruptednerds … and I’ll have all the previous episodes online there within a few hours.

Leaving aside the interesting question of whether the PM is the one to accept a GG’s resignation, points to Abbott for refusing to do so.

@JM77 Why thank you, though I suspect generations to come won’t be that impressed. @jamescroft @terencehuynh @fulltimecasual

via Janetter for Mac in reply to JM77

@terencehuynh @reckonerAU Hah. I’m not worried, though I’m concerned that I seem to have invented a sushi-based cocaine beef gelato.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to terencehuynh

@terencehuynh @fulltimecasual @jamescroft @JM77 For some reason the guys at @reckonerAU blame me for it going weird and for too long.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to terencehuynh

RT @leslienassar: Are you sure that’s not CYBER Security INTERNET Response Team? Because it seems like it should be. [Sorry, you’re right.]

via Janetter for Mac

“CSIRT” means Computer Security Incident Response Team. These tend to be full of smart people.

via Janetter for Mac

So yes, definitely, there’ll be a new Corrupted Nerds later today, a chat with Akamai CSIRT director Michael Smith about the joys of DDoS.
