OK, I’m off.

@IsVittra That too. I grew up with cows.

@franksting @mpesce @AussiemacJ I tend to agres, but then we don’t know whether it was used first in the US or the UK.

via TweetDeck in reply to franksting

This is indeed correct, but I wouldn’t go quite as snuggly as in that example. twitter.com/RealNickHodge/…

via TweetDeck in reply to mpesce

@mpesce @AussiemacJ @franksting “Black Maria” is equivalent. I haven’t heard it used here in AU, but some say they have.

@GordyPls @Asher_Wolf @OaaSvc Ditto. It’ll be interesting to see who runs with it and how.

via Tweetbot for iΟS in reply to GordyPls

@eDavidCameron Well that’s a nice non-racist term that also describes what they do most of the time.

via Tweetbot for iΟS in reply to eDavidCameron

@garthk Yeah I remembered my last one was only six or seven years ago. Whenever I did the Africa thing.

via Tweetbot for iΟS in reply to garthk

@GordyPls @Asher_Wolf @OaaSvc It’s easy enough. Roger Clarke has done an excellent explainer.

via Tweetbot for iΟS in reply to GordyPls

@ivovic Lol. Yeah that’s me. But I know how the A&E machine is structured, and I’ve been through it a few times.

via Tweetbot for iΟS in reply to ivovic

@retrogrrl Thanks, but like, it’s just a few grazes.

via Tweetbot for iΟS in reply to retrogrrl

@OaaSvc I know I have a couple handy sound bites about data re-identification that don’t use the term and sound scary.

via Tweetbot for iΟS in reply to OaaSvc

@ivovic There’s a reason they’re called “medical procedures”.

via Tweetbot for iΟS in reply to ivovic

@ivovic Well, a hospital is a system for processing patients, an A&E department more so, what with the potential urgency etc.

via Tweetbot for iΟS in reply to ivovic

@OaaSvc It’ll depend on where the media decides to take the narrative, and that depends on who gives them the easiest narrative to tell.

via Tweetbot for iΟS in reply to OaaSvc

The doctor returned, said “I can’t find a nurse. It’ll be quicker if I just do it.” And he did. And I’m done.

via Tweetbot for iΟS in reply to stilgherrian

While I’m now in a treatments room, it means I’m moving forward. But it does mean I can’t talk to the old bloke in the waiting room.

via Tweetbot for iΟS in reply to stilgherrian

A young doctor has seen me, and after a very brief conversation has agreed that this does not require his presence. I await a nurse.

via Tweetbot for iΟS in reply to stilgherrian

@NewtonMark @Asher_Wolf @Andrewmd5 You know, I hadn’t spotted that. Careless me. But I’m not going down that rabbit-hole again. Not now.

via Tweetbot for iΟS in reply to NewtonMark

@phonakins Thanks for that. My personal view is that the “patty” for “patrol” argument seems a bit thin.

via Tweetbot for iΟS in reply to phonakins

@myrcurial Awww… You say the sweetest things.

via Tweetbot for iΟS in reply to myrcurial

@Pat1066Patrick @nswpolice Ah yes, I’ve heard “black maria” before. I’m now curious about the regional variations here.

via Tweetbot for iΟS in reply to Pat1066Patrick

@carolduncan @Lyall Meh. I’ll have more to talk about in the podcast.

via Tweetbot for iΟS in reply to carolduncan

@AussiemacJ @nswpolice Someone just told me privately they’d once heard the term “coonbox” for similar reasons. As have I, now I ponder it.

via Tweetbot for iΟS in reply to stilgherrian

@AussiemacJ @nswpolice Paddy wagon for rounding up the Irish, because they’re all criminals.

via Tweetbot for iΟS in reply to AussiemacJ

@not_that_CK @argumentalist @joneaves @nswpolice But it’s OK for the Irish to reclaim the term, it’s not mine to redefine.

via Tweetbot for iΟS

@Lyall @carolduncan Well done you, but I don’t think I’m quite up to the DVT prophylaxis point yet.

via Tweetbot for iΟS in reply to Lyall

His tattoos were of a style that suggests his life has not been entirely innocent.

via Tweetbot for iΟS in reply to stilgherrian

Ah, I think I know what was kicking off. One patient here in a wheelchair just popped out for a cigarette, flanked by two security guys.

via Tweetbot for iΟS in reply to stilgherrian

Thanks, @argumentalist @joneaves @nswpolice, “divisional van” or “divvy van”, though that does seem old-fashioned.

via Tweetbot for iΟS in reply to argumentalist

@BXGD I wouldn’t be that self-centred. These people have work to do.

via Tweetbot for iΟS in reply to BXGD

@Lyall My Dr Google says 70% within 120 minutes.

via Tweetbot for iΟS in reply to Lyall

“Paddy wagon” is of course a racist term, but I don’t actually know what @nswpolice calls them officially.

via Tweetbot for iΟS in reply to stilgherrian

The carnivale begins. Police just took someone away, loud banging and shouting emerging from inside the paddy wagon.

via Tweetbot for iΟS

I note that the acceptable performance for triage category 5 is to see 70% of patients within 120 minutes. Seems quite reasonable to me.

via Tweetbot for iΟS in reply to stilgherrian

@Lyall @carolduncan I also just realise the triage scale goes from 5 up to 1, not 0 up to 4. But yeah I know where I sit.

via Tweetbot for iΟS in reply to Lyall

@smidgey It’s not a separate clinic, but nurses that do the easy stuff in a separate stream. I think. But it’s standard triage first.

via Tweetbot for iΟS in reply to smidgey

@carolduncan @Lyall I just didn’t see the tree root sticking out in the dark. I’m getting old.

via Tweetbot for iΟS in reply to carolduncan

@carolduncan @Lyall Yep. Well two glasses of wine over lunch. But I slipped on a tree root in the footpath as I was about to cross the road.

via Tweetbot for iΟS in reply to carolduncan

@Lyall Hah! I could’ve been seen quicker if I said I’d had heart palpitation, but then I don’t want to spend the night here.

via Tweetbot for iΟS in reply to Lyall

@smidgey Heh. My understanding is the public hospitals also got funding specifically for non-emergency stuff, but I may have that wrong.

via Tweetbot for iΟS in reply to smidgey

Nine News just had an item on having to give names with the Census. This issue feels like it’s going to kick off.

via Tweetbot for iΟS

@smidgey Not nearby on Saturday night, no.

via Tweetbot for iΟS in reply to smidgey

@Lyall Oh I’m well aware I’m Triage Score 0. But I’ll get the wounds cleaned properly this way. I’m in no rush.

via Tweetbot for iΟS in reply to Lyall

36.7C, 96bpm, 130/97 or so. I’m happy with those vitals.

via Tweetbot for iΟS in reply to stilgherrian

@davispg I think he thought that I lived nearby, ‘cos I said it happened nearby.

via Tweetbot for iΟS in reply to davispg

But I know to not annoy the nurses because they can take revenge in a variety of ways.

via Tweetbot for iΟS in reply to stilgherrian

Just to be clear, it was the triage nurse asking me about Band-Aids. And like, no, if I had the kit I wouldn’t be here. Der.

via Tweetbot for iΟS in reply to stilgherrian

Hmmm… I think I’ll need a tetanus shot too. It’s been a while.

via Tweetbot for iΟS in reply to stilgherrian

I have been triaged, asked “Don’t you have any Band-Aids?”, seen the eye-roll, and told to wait.

via Tweetbot for iΟS in reply to stilgherrian

I believe @mkotadia would know where that footage is. twitter.com/jturner_ibrs/s…

via Tweetbot for iΟS

@wibbly Of course not. Only an arsehat would do that when walking down a dark street.

via Tweetbot for iΟS in reply to wibbly

Checked in at RPA, waiting for triage.

via Tweetbot for iΟS in reply to stilgherrian

I could deal with it myself if I had a full first aid kit.

via Tweetbot for iΟS in reply to stilgherrian

@jplonie @R_Chirgwin I know, I know. But it’s still relatively early and a nurse can handle this :

via Tweetbot for iΟS in reply to jplonie

So arsehat me just tripped over and went down hard into the street. Just grazes, but I’m popping over to RPA to get it cleaned up properly.

My suggestion for WikiLeaks fans is to let the world’s media recover from a way busy week, and give them time to read some emails and check.

@Demon_Sing Where’s the number? You’re convinced there’s a conspiracy. I see normal media work, no evidence against. Leave you to it. Ciao.

via TweetDeck in reply to Demon_Sing

@Demon_Sing It’s normal for a hashtag to trend briefly, then if the rate of change reduces, so a steady flow, it’s no longer trending.

via TweetDeck in reply to Demon_Sing

@Demon_Sing No, a trending topic is where the rate of tweets is rising rapidly. It’s not about volume alone. So dx not x, in math notation.

via TweetDeck in reply to Demon_Sing

@Demon_Sing Just as an aside. someone can’t be “wilfully ignorant” when they’re actively asking for information that’ll change their mind.

via TweetDeck in reply to Demon_Sing

@Demon_Sing Wait, you mean just watch tweets scrolling past and go “Wow, that’s fast?”

via TweetDeck in reply to Demon_Sing

@Demon_Sing What do you mean by “look at the hashtag itself”? Where does it show me the number of tweets?

via TweetDeck in reply to Demon_Sing

@Demon_Sing That’s why I asked about the source of the figure. I’m willing to modify my view based on information received.

via TweetDeck in reply to Demon_Sing

@Demon_Sing Worth more in dollar terms to potential advertisers, I mean. Capitalism in action. “Political bias”? Where’s your evidence?

via TweetDeck in reply to Demon_Sing

@courteneyh You might well think that. I couldn’t possibly comment.

via TweetDeck in reply to courteneyh

@courteneyh Also, “radical transparency” is YOU deciding to reveal your inner workings. It’s not for other people to force upon you.

via Twitter Web Client in reply to courteneyh

@Demon_Sing Having worked in media for 35 years, I’d headline a mass shooting and 1D ahead of this hard-to-explain smaller-audience story.

via TweetDeck in reply to Demon_Sing

@Demon_Sing Choosing not to highlight something isn’t censorship. All the tweets are there. They’ve just judged something else worth more.
