Mon plan: Work steadily thru the to-do list and get some writing done, in no particular order. Yes, a desk day. Evening open.
Backing up 350GB over USB 2.0. 15 hours in, not even half-way through. Expected, still inconvenient. Losing data even less convenient tho.
@garthk I plug and unplug external monitor on old G4 PowerBook all the time, has only ever hanged twice and suspect that was another cause.
Emerging. Stretching… pop! Erk. Maybe I should see the chiropractor soon. Oh well, let’s see what another Monday holds.
Watching last week’s “Media Watch” and “Newstopia”.
@garthk “Eventually” may be “as soon as this backup finishes”.
@garthk Intending to get new Macbook Pro in next fortnight, scrapping Linux file server in favour of NAS eventually.
@garthk Don’t know that I need Time Capsule, already have networking bits. But Time Machine software, yes. Just bought 1TB for $279.
Backing up 350GB of data which seriously needs backing up. Over USB 2.0. I may be some time…
@PeterBlackQUT I can’t quite see a Republican wanting to be Australia’s Governor-General… unless they plan to sabotage. ;)
Once more I am SO pleased that Linux chooses device drivers at boot time every time, not when the operating system is first installed.
I shall never try cleaning crap out of heat sinks ever again. Hardware is for teenagers and foreign process workers only.
I do not like the fact that my server does not boot. No, I do not like it at all. Not one bit.
… and griping at the typo in my previous tweet. [sigh]
Vaccuuming cat fur out of the server, listenigng to the thunderstorm slowly approach.
Sunday plan: No plan. @ApostrophePong on photo shoot, house to myself & cats. Maybe a lame-arsed awards night. One bridge at a time…
@duncanriley That’s particularly sweet, and most accurate. Retweet: An Engineer’s Guide to Cats http://is.gd/5IX Made my morning.
