OH YES, YOU COULD GIVE THE AUDIENCE MEMBER A MICROPHONE SO WE CAN HEAR THEM THAT IS REALLY QUITE BRILLIANT.

via Janetter for Mac

@franksting Crime stats do not differentiate “cyber”. A fraud is a fraud in official crime stats.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to franksting

“Nigeria”! [drink]

via Janetter for Mac

RT @franksting: @stilgherrian her outfit *requires* high heels in fairness [True.]

via Janetter for Mac in reply to franksting

Oh dear. Someone is “asking a question” which is, in essence, a misinformed rant against cloud computing.

via Janetter for Mac

I promise I won’t cry.

via Janetter for Mac

RT @PardusXY: @stilgherrian @SnarkyPlatypus the term cyber should have stayed in IRC. :P [Yes.]

via Janetter for Mac in reply to PardusXY

RT @SnarkyPlatypus: You’re at an event that uses the ‘cyber’ prefix. I don’t think you should get your hopes up. [True enough.]

via Janetter for Mac in reply to SnarkyPlatypus

The audience is rapt, @franksting, the audience is lapping up this “brand new” information.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to franksting

I look forward to the narrative reaching the current decade.

NSW Police guy on Ukraine: “They have a remarkable tolerance of organised crime that really puts Australia to shame.”

via Janetter for Mac

RT @internetpol: @franksting I fight crime, injustice, and lame commentary on SECURITAH in the media. [WE ARE SAV0RATED!]

via Janetter for Mac in reply to internetpol

There’s about 350 worthy citizens listening here tonight. Mr Gamble was right off the grid, now NSW Police guy doing carding 101.

via Janetter for Mac

@kcarruthers Ken Gamble is Executive Chairman of Internet Fraud Watchdog, and he’s a private investigator. linkedin.com/pub/ken-gamble…

via Janetter for Mac in reply to kcarruthers

Mr Gamble seems to be complete unaware of the Council of Europe Convention on Cybercrime or any of the current legislative work.

via Janetter for Mac

“We need ‘Internetpol’ to fight online crime… Why don’t we have this already?” Jesus wept.

via Janetter for Mac

Apparently “should police be able to intercept” or “can we have privacy” is a binary choice.

via Janetter for Mac

I do like the clip art for “suicide”. Lovely colourful pills falling out of that bottle.

via Janetter for Mac

Oh. Dear. He’s citing Symantec’s $1.8B as Australia’s direct losses to cybercrime annually, plus $2.8B indirect

via Janetter for Mac

Hmmm… This isn’t the case I’d have chosen to highight current problem, Mr Gamble. And no hard numbers on monetary losses from this case?

via Janetter for Mac

Do we have a hashtag? We need a hashtag.

via Janetter for Mac

@franksting “The internet from space” is a technical term. You wouldn’t understand.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to franksting

RT @atirere Is it about the impending onslaught of cybermen? [Yes, yes it is.]

via TweetDeck

Um no, taxi driver, we should not be headed to Camperdown. That’s the University of Sydney. Sigh. Kensington, please.

via TweetDeck

Detecting a market opportunity.

via TweetDeck

RT @mukimu: Would have thought something you traditionally set on fire. Absinthe? Sambucca? [This is what I’m thinking too.]

via Janetter for Mac in reply to mukimu

And… the radio is done. Alas, my audio stream seems to have failed part-way, so I don’t think I have a recording to post later.

via Janetter for Mac

A Flame Worm cocktail would need tequila, obviously, and what else?

via Janetter for Mac

Sitting in TARDIS 1. Awaiting the automates switch to @abcgoldcoast at 1715 AEST.

via Janetter for Mac

I’m talking Flame worm on @abcgoldcoast in about 10 mins. Listen at abc.net.au/goldcoast/ or not, as your heart desires.

via Janetter for Mac

Me at @CSO_Australia: “Why Flame can’t be the world’s most complex malware” cso.com.au/article/426094… Ping @riskybusiness

via Janetter for Mac

@Colophonemes ABC Gold Coast, 1715 AEST, various frequencies. Will tweet link when in TARDIS.

via TweetDeck in reply to Colophonemes

I shall now leave my SEKRIT eyrie, despite the glorious view, and stroll to ABC Ultimo, there to enter a TARDIS and talk about Flame.

via Janetter for Mac

@johnthelutheran @paulkidd There does not seem to be a cocktail called the metaphor. I believe this to be a significant flaw in society.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to johnthelutheran

New photo: “Whatever you say, Senator Wong!” flickr.com/photos/stilghe…

via Janetter for Mac

Story filed. I now have an hour to kill before I need to head over to ABC Ultimo.

via Janetter for Mac

RT @DavidParis: Oh. Dear. RT @jessmcguire: RON SWANSON TRANCE s3-ec.buzzfed.com/static/enhance… [Yay! And I don’t even know who Ron Swanson is.]

via Janetter for Mac in reply to DavidParis

RT @paulkidd: there should be a cocktail called the metaphor, for this very reason [This is a very good thought. Maybe there’s one already?]

via Janetter for Mac in reply to paulkidd

Mixing metaphors. Because I’m a professional. Don’t try this at home, kids.

via Janetter for Mac

RT @stratsec: We’ve pulled apart a module of the Flame worm - stratsec.blogspot.com.au/2012/05/flame-… [Thanks, will look momentarily.]

via Janetter for Mac in reply to stratsec

Huh? @joshgnosis is Kenyan? I AM SO CONFUSED!

via Janetter for Mac

My spot on @abcgoldcoast talking about the Flame worm has now been rescheduled for 1715 AEST.

via Janetter for Mac

@joshgnosis OMFG MITT ROMNEY LOOKS SO YOUNG I NEVER REALISED.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to joshgnosis

OK, I’m heads down while I get a quick little article written before heading over to the ABC.

via Janetter for Mac

@Gwyntaglaw No, you can’t bolt the -gate at the end of the word if the gazelle has already bolted.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to Gwyntaglaw

“Gazelle”? Oh dear.

via Janetter for Mac

“Flame worm”, you ask? Here’s the thing I wrote for @crikey_news yesterday. crikey.com.au/2012/05/29/in-… … but I’ve understood more since.

via Janetter for Mac

I’m talking Flame worm at 1615 AEST (in 2 hours) on ABC Gold Coast, and you shall listen at abc.net.au/goldcoast/ or not.

via Janetter for Mac

No you can’t mince a greyhound. They get all barky and complainy and the RSPCA will give you so much shit.

via Janetter for Mac

@en_gy You don’t “have” to. It’s your choice. The door is not locked.

via TweetDeck

Eating all the fishes.

via TweetDeck

@en_gy What are you doing up there? Why aren’t you mixing cocktails?

via Janetter for Mac

Alighting at Town Hall station.

via TweetDeck

@franksting The Blue Mountains trains travel quite fast once down on the Sydney plains, actually.

via TweetDeck in reply to franksting

Terminating at Central. All-outing, all-changing.

via Janetter for Mac

Feeling a sudden burst of creativity and the whiff of vinyl as the train hurtles through Newtown.

via Janetter for Mac

@piecritic DFAT serves waffles now? Honey and cream is the way to go. Also, when served with waffles.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to piecritic

RT @jeamland: Gina Rinehart, because she’s rich? [I would be more than happy to have lunch with Ms Rinehart. Number’s on the website.]

via Janetter for Mac in reply to jeamland

RT @johncarneyau: Kickstarter? [Oh, perhaps I could sell “Lunch with Stilgherrian” on eBay.]

via Janetter for Mac in reply to johncarneyau

So who’s buying me lunch?

via Janetter for Mac

I would prefer to be goverened by some farcical aquatic ceremony that this bullshit. abc.net.au/news/2012-05-3…

via Janetter for Mac

@Telstra I just pass that on so you can pass it up. NONE of the plans look attractive. They look like I have to pay for stuff I don’t use.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to Telstra

RT @RatbagsDotCom: People asked why I got a 3G tab instead of WiFi-only-and-use-the-phone. 18Gb data was the deal maker. [Good point.]

via Janetter for Mac in reply to RatbagsDotCom

@Telstra Out of a $550pm allowance I currently use $100 to $150 calls, $28 SMS. Wish I could trade off $300 of calls for, oh, 20GB of data.

via Janetter for Mac

@Telstra Thanks, Ash. Immediate feedback: plans with more data, far smaller call/SMS allowance, would be useful. Who even calls any more?

via Janetter for Mac in reply to Telstra

@bleeters @Glebe2037 @Telstra The spare device / another network plan has a serious flaw: yet more shit to carry around.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to bleeters

@imtimhanlon Indeed, and “looking into” was my tweet. :) @Telstra’s Twitter-watching team is one of the best around, possibly even sexiest.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to timhnln

@Telstra Thanks, Ash. You got handy direct links to the currently available data plans, personal and business? Can do either way.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to Telstra

@bleeters @jeamland No, OS X does not have ddate and that is a serious error of judgement as they will discover… in time.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to bleeters

Tim Cook has perfect hair?

via Janetter for Mac

RT @jeamland: It’s ok guys, Mac OS X 10.7.4 still has uucp. [OH WHEW I WAS REALLY WORRIED THERE FOR A MOMENT I MEAN HOW WOULD WE EVEN.]

via Janetter for Mac in reply to jeamland

Uhoh. Only 4GB to last 14 days. @Telstra, is there STILL no way to provision more than 12GB onto a Next G post-paid phone? Even business?

via Janetter for Mac

RT @joncallas: Stil — you need to let other people have their turn at least once a week. [Oh. Well. Played. I am seriously laughing now.]

via Janetter for Mac in reply to joncallas

He flounces onto the train at Lapstone in shiny leather jacket, no shirt, expensive jeans and a serious I’m-special pout. At Lapstone, FFS.

via Janetter for Mac

Folks, there’s 6.8 billion people on this planet. The probaility of one of them doing something really, really weird today is 100%.

via Janetter for Mac

RT @vealmince: @stilgherrian @riskybusiness Hey fun boys, get a room! [OK, this is now even more wrong than anything said so far.]

via Janetter for Mac in reply to vealmince

@riskybusiness BTW, I’m citing your South Africa thing in a thing today. Is there a better link to it than this one? itweb.co.za/index.php?opti…

via Janetter for Mac in reply to riskybusiness

@riskybusiness Well, OK, as long as we agree that screeching angrily on Twitter WILL solve it all… we ARE then in complete agreement.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to riskybusiness

@riskybusiness Now hang on there, matey! You’re not allowed to notch up the Patronising-Cunt-o-Meter faster than I am! Outrageous!

via Janetter for Mac in reply to riskybusiness

@riskybusiness So if I give your knickers a bit more of a twist, is THAT when we get to see your head explode? Asking for a friend.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to riskybusiness

MT @riskybusiness: The media is doing the bidding of corp interests. [OMFG ORLY WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN FFS NOTIFY THE MEDI… OH WAIT.]

via Janetter for Mac in reply to riskybusiness

@riskybusiness Part of the problem, I suspect, is most IT journos are “gadget enthusiasts” not proper geeks. Now I want to name names. ;)

via Janetter for Mac in reply to riskybusiness

@riskybusiness Ah yes well… UTS/Crikey research showed 78% of IT stories were direct PR placements, worst of any specialist field.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to riskybusiness

Am I being a troll? This feels like trolling. And it feels kinda nice. Should I stop? It feels like I should keep going.

via TweetDeck

@riskybusiness So, specialists in a field know more than general news reporters. WHO KNEW? Do we get to see your head explode soon?

via TweetDeck in reply to riskybusiness

@riskybusiness Or, translated into subtlety, “I’m agreeing with you, just stop being an oh-so-special arsehat.” I say that with love. Ish.

via TweetDeck in reply to riskybusiness

@riskybusiness I’m fairly sure “some news value” doesn’t constitute a justification of a declaration of cyberwar but, you know, nuance.

via TweetDeck in reply to riskybusiness

@riskybusiness The “I know more than in that news story there”does reek just a tiny bit of arrogance. A tiny weeeeeny bit.

via TweetDeck in reply to riskybusiness

@riskybusiness Nevertheless, for the vast majority of people Flame is new and interesting, hence it has some news value.

@alexismadrigal @megangarber Well it was winter, and the server was in a cold warehouse environment. Inside the server was nice and warm.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to alexismadrigal

I think I’ve discovered another test for the presence of reading comprehension and critical thinking.

via Janetter for Mac

@alexismadrigal @megangarber I’m not surprised. One server I sorted, reported to crash occasionally, had a family of mice living in it.
