In fact, the fatigue is hitting quite hard right now, so I’m collapsing.

via Janetter for Mac

I’ll note all your suggestions for Windows Phone 8 to OS X cross-breeding in the morning. But for now, I’m over it.

via Janetter for Mac

I can’t rate the phone for phone calls yet, @gjbell, because I make so few of them. I’ll run some tests another day.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to gjbell

I think I might have to, finally, abandon Expression Media as my image and video database because Microsoft abandoned it.

via Janetter for Mac

@crazyfun_nicol Yeah, it may well do. But I don’t have Aperture and I don’t have a spare $85. I’ll play tomorrow.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to crazyfun_nicol

I realise Expression Media 2 is 2009 software, but it’s worked for everything until now, including new Nikon cameras.

via Janetter for Mac

I suppose I could try iPhoto or iMovie. And I feel ill just saying that.

via Janetter for Mac

@crazyfun_nicol Thanks for that reassurance. It means I’ll approach the operation with some confidence in the morning.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to crazyfun_nicol

I would’ve shown you the REALLY FUCKING COOL VIDEO that I shot on the Lumia 925, but it’ll have to wait now.

via Janetter for Mac

Nah, Expression Media 2 for OS X (‘cos Microsoft dumped it after v2) can’t showing the Lumia 925 in its list of cameras.

via Janetter for Mac

Hang on. @dananimal has suggested MTP, i.e. telling OS X that the Nokia Lumia 925 is a camera. Stand by…

via Janetter for Mac

Oh true, @elronxenu @jonoabroad, Android allows you to mount as USB drive, but only with permissions from phone. Again, as it should be.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to elronxenu

Seriously, Microsoft, you’ve got what increasingly seems to be a rather nice mobile OS. Don’t fuck it up by being arsehats.

via Janetter for Mac

Dear Apple and Microsoft, it’s the 21st Fucking Century. Get over yourselves and follow some sort of standard.

via Janetter for Mac

I’d try it tonight, @jdub, except I’m completely over fucking around with incompatible warring ecosystems in my own time.

via Janetter for Mac

Oh OK, @jdub has now pointed me to Windows Phone for OS X. I’ll try it tomorrow. itunes.apple.com/au/app/windows…

via Janetter for Mac

Quite rightly, @jonoabroad, a phone (Windows or iOS) won’t expose its files by just being plugged into another computer.

via Janetter for Mac

I know there’s plenty of Windows computers, but would I get a Windows Phone if it meant buying a whole new ecosystem?

via Janetter for Mac

Oh that’s right. Windows Phone 8 and OS X no speaky-talky. 2.3GB video file means 8 hours of Bluetooth to transfer. Sigh

via Janetter for Mac

@yinettesys Did it? I see that the X-3 was a Douglas aircraft. The F-104 was Lockheed.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to yinettesys

Annoyingly, though, @retronaut has dropped normal HTML links for pop-up bullshit which makes it harder to link to interesting things.

via Janetter for Mac

Mind you, who needs the NBN when you’ve got one of these? retronaut.com/2013/03/phone-… retronaut.com/wp-content/upl…

via Janetter for Mac

@veritychambers Looking at the performance specs, it seems I’m fine using the train.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to veritychambers

This week’s @RNFutureTense is about the future of manned space exploration, so it’s pretty much pants-off for me.

So pleased that ABC Radio now lets the podcasts of programs like @RNFutureTense go live before their “old radio” broadcast.

@StanCarey An indeed! Though this won’t make you rich… oh, forget I spoke.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to StanCarey

@StanCarey Nah, you made the sensible choice, given the lack of hard data. But I suspect you’re being too charitable.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to StanCarey

@StanCarey True. You need academic credibility, with facts, logic etc. Whereas I work mostly as a journalist and op-ed writer. ;)

@jplonie @R_Chirgwin @NewtonMark @alliecoyne Sorry to get you excited. I just retweeted with the classic typo corrected.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to jplonie

@jplonie @R_Chirgwin @NewtonMark @alliecoyne I can confirm no new app being available. I’d have to set up a test LAN to look at packets.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to jplonie

RT @NewtonMark: @stilgherrian @R_Chirgwin You should build a test network in the cloud. It’s all the rage. [This idea cheers me up no end!]

via Janetter for Mac

@R_Chirgwin @NewtonMark Indeed. It’s just annoying that I dismantled my test network 2.5 years back. I need a co-conspirator.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to R_Chirgwin

@NewtonMark @R_Chirgwin Well FWIW, the Westpac app on my iPad can’t connect right now. I think I’ll keep it and do some packet analysis.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to NewtonMark

@NewtonMark @R_Chirgwin Because if the IP addresses WERE under Westpac’s control, then I believe routers can be configured.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to NewtonMark

@NewtonMark @R_Chirgwin Delete-reinstall would indicate that somewhere IP addresses not under Westpac’s control might have sneaked in?

via Janetter for Mac in reply to NewtonMark

@NewtonMark @Westpac Now now, Mark, it’s REALLY HARD to type “Redirect 301” and then paste in some shit. Honestly!

I will follow that up with Nokia and Microsoft to see in whose software that decision is being made.

via Janetter for Mac

I think I see the cause. If it momentarily loses a 3G/4G internet link, it kills its “internet sharing”. Nothing to “share”.

via Janetter for Mac

I am becoming less and less impressed with the Nokia Lumia 925’s habit of continually losing clients for its Wi-Fi hotspot.

via Janetter for Mac

RT @snerdish: Richard Wilkins? Good choice. Man has his eyes on the ball. [I agree. An excellent departmental secretary.]

via Janetter for Mac

Speaking of geoblocking, I believe that @theprojecttv is doing a story on that tonight. Because I’m in it.

via Janetter for Mac

@CrankyDevGuy @codinghorror I am outraged that you would even suggest such a thing. OUTRAGED I TELL YOU!

via Janetter for Mac in reply to CrankyDevGuy

@stufromoz So there’s two sentences… ;) Nah, no facts about the cause, so I’m not going to comment beyond disappointment with Westpac.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to stufromoz

@belinda_josey Oh no, keep the suggestions coming. Everything helps me just the mood of the world etc.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to belinda_josey

Prime Minister Rudd is recommending that Mr Roger Wilkins AO be reappointed as Secretary of the Attorney-General’s Department.

via Janetter for Mac

@stufromoz @zdnetaustralia And what’s there to say (given the lack of facts about the cause) beyond ‘banks are rich, I don’t like fail”?

via Janetter for Mac in reply to stufromoz

… and as for Windows OEM pricing, @belinda_josey, while it seems an annoying thing, I’m not sure that there’s an analysis to sustain.
