@Tim_Coronel Oh @Bowker should indeed know that their website looks like it’s run by fly-by-night scammers. Truly awful.

via Tweetbot for iOS in reply to Tim_Coronel

@NewtonMark There is that, but Microsoft forgot a domain renewal the other year. A dev renewed it so he could download his updates,

via Tweetbot for iOS in reply to NewtonMark

@Tim_Coronel @nlagovau I know, they’re terrible. Normally that’d trigger my “I’m not doing business with these people” reflex.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to Tim_Coronel

@Tim_Coronel @nlagovau It’s a long time since I’ve been after an ISBN. Done a few ISSNs since then. I’m still laughing at the crassness.

@mdennedy @BXGD Oh I had to leave him in. Back when I produced radio for the ABC, I was so sick of the sterile studio sound.

@PeteDotAscian It’s a competitve arena at the moment. Stripe is the flavour of the month. Pin is reportedly good. There are others.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to PeteDotAscian

@PeteDotAscian Thanks. I’ll send you a photo when I have it, probably on Thursday.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to PeteDotAscian

@PeteDotAscian Anyway, thanks for being first cab off the rank. It’s nice to know things actually work.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to PeteDotAscian

@PeteDotAscian @humanmadeltd I won’t pass judgement. We all make our choices. And Stripe does count as a third-party site from mine.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to PeteDotAscian

@jturner_ibrs “Doing it wrong” sums up much of my liife. But yes, 35% is pretty steep for money laundering. I know you can get cheaper.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to jturner_ibrs

@humanmadeltd Don’t worry, when @PeteDotAscian turnned JavaScript on, things decided to work. It’s magic! ;) Thanks for a handy plugin.

via Janetter for Mac

@PeteDotAscian And indeed I can confirm my end. You should have an email from me, if you asked for it. I have confirmation from Stripe. Win!

via Janetter for Mac in reply to PeteDotAscian

@PeteDotAscian Yep yep, the green means that the JavaScript detected a valid CC number.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to PeteDotAscian

@PeteDotAscian That will help, yes. The plugin runs JavaScript in your browser so the CC number goes straight to Stripe and not to me.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to PeteDotAscian

@PeteDotAscian You don’t have any endpoint or network security software that prevents you sending a credit card number?

via Janetter for Mac in reply to PeteDotAscian

@humanmadeltd Hi, able to help @PeteDotAscian who can’t make a payment thru stilgherrian.com/tip/ when it’s OK for me? Browser issue?

via Janetter for Mac

@PeteDotAscian The minimum is 50c, so it’s not that. Checking plugin docs now. wordpress.org/plugins/wp-str…

via Janetter for Mac in reply to PeteDotAscian

The joys of testing. I just paid about 35c to pay myself a dollar.

via Janetter for Mac

@hughstephens I have seen this habit. I’ve always been more about getting the infrastructure stable so I can do things with it.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to hughstephens

@PeteDotAscian The good thing is, your card won’t be charged unless ALL the ducks align, and I can reverse transactions anyway.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to PeteDotAscian

@hughstephens I tend to chuckle when I have suggestions along the lines of “Change your entire infrastructure!” Life’s too short.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to hughstephens

@hughstephens That’s quite a few hours of work transferring mine and clients’ sites for no net gain. A rare SSL problem. Maybe next rev.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to hughstephens

@PeteDotAscian Nah, there should have been a green confirmation at the top of the popup, “Success, you just transferred AUD X !” Browser?

via Janetter for Mac in reply to PeteDotAscian

@PeteDotAscian Hmmm… It didn’t work, you know. Sigh. It worked in the test environment. Good thing this was flagged now. Stand by.

via Janetter for Mac in reply to PeteDotAscian

@hughstephens It is. But I have my own metal in a rack in San Francisco, which makes is slightly less of a nightmare.
