My week of Monday 21 to Sunday 27 April 2025, like the one before it, was inside out. It’s the public holidays and the weekend days which have been busy, with fatigue hitting during the week. So it was a trip to Manly on Tuesday, and podcast work on the holidays.
Thank you for supporting this season’s crowdfunder
The 9pm Mid-2025 Series crowdfunding campaign almost reached Target Two on Tuesday night, so I’ve declared “Close enough”. Thank you so much. I’ve already posted the details elsewhere. The short version is that before the end of winter there will be six special-guest episodes of The 9pm Edict and two “proper” episodes of Another Untitled Music Podcast, whatever that means.
Podcasts
- The 9pm Triple Mammal Chinese Spy Ship Panic with Snarky Platypus, recorded on Easter Saturday and posted on Easter Monday.
The 9pm Edict and Another Untitled Music Podcast are supported by the generosity of their listeners. If you missed the crowdfunder, you might like to throw a few coins into the tip jar or subscribe for special benefits. Please consider.

Muskwatch
Elon Musk is cutting back his White House role to one or two days a week. As am I. Don’t you wish you could just say that? Anyway, most of the Musky news this short week focused on two main issues.
- Elon Musk to pull back in Doge role starting May amid 71% dip in Tesla profits.
- Musk’s far-right views and work with DOGE have damaged Tesla. Can he fix it?
- Meanwhile this week, Waymo reported that it is now delivering more than 250,000 paid robotaxi rides per week in the US. Waymo is owned by Alphabet, the parent company of Google, and it’s now thinking about making them available for personal ownership — although they’d be more expensive than a Tesla due to its more complex sensor array.
- And from Fortune, “Elon Musk’s robotaxi could be Tesla’s final all-new EV: ‘The reality is, in the future, most people are not going to buy cars’.”
- Wait. One more. Elon Musk’s xAI accused of pollution over Memphis supercomputer.

The Week Ahead
I’m expecting this to be a busy week.
On Monday I’ll finally wrap the summer series of The 9pm Edict podcast — thank you for your patience — with an episode featuring Scottish author and social researcher David F Porteous. We recorded it on Friday and it’s rather odd in places.
Tuesday is for shopping and errands. Wednesday and Thursday are for client work. Friday is for administrivia and The Weekly Cybers.
It’s the Federal Election on Saturday. I haven’t made specific plans yet, but I’ll almost certainly be down in Sydney somewhere.
On Sunday afternoon, Snarky Platypus and I will finally record the second pilot episode of Another Untitled Music Podcast, and it’ll be posted a few days later. This will definitely happen, because we’ve chosen the theme and have already chosen many of the tunes.
On Sunday evening I’m heading out to see Takashi Wakasugi Comedy Samurai at The Comedy Store in Sydney. You may have seen Waka on the current series of Taskmaster Australia. And then I’ll remain in Sydney overnight.
Further Ahead
I’m expecting the following week to be less busy, because it’s kind of Birthday Week.
- .au member webinar: auDA 2026-30 Draft Strategy, online, 5 May 2025.
- Sydney Heli Grand Flight, Sydney HeliTours, 7 May 2025. Someone has been quite generous with this birthday present, my first helicopter flight. There will be photographs.
- Stilgherrian’s Nth birthday lunch, where N is divisible by 5, Blue Mountains, Saturday 10 May 2025. This date may or may not be my exact birthday. Some friends have organised lunch at a posh place in the Blue Mountains. If you’re of the opinion that you’d like to join us, please let me know and I’ll connect you with the organiser.
- Space traffic jam: Challenges facing space sustainability, US Studies Centre, online, 14 May 2025.
- He Huang’s White Man’s Burden, Concourse Chatswood, 17 May 2025. I really love her work. Look for her on YouTube.
