My week of Monday 8 to Sunday 14 September 2025 started well but slipped into illness at the end — again! — although things then improved on the weekend. I had to bail from a conference on Thursday, and spend Friday very close to a bathroom at all time. We shall speak of this no more.
This means that the podcast post-production was pushed back again, but it also means that you’ll get three podcasts in the coming week. On a more uniformly positive note, I also settled into some restructured client work.
Please support The 9pm Spring Series 2025 crowdfunder
This season’s crowdfunding campaign, The 9pm Spring Series 2025, is under way.
Your contributions will support my podcasts The 9pm Edict and Another Untitled Music Podcast by providing me with an income to live on — especially important given these recent illnesses.
Depending on the level of your support, you can also buy TRIGGER WORDS or a CONVERSATION TOPIC to insert your brain into the Edict, Recommend a Song to Us or submit a We Will We Will Judge You playlist into AUMP, score yourself a custom audio or video message, or more.
At the time of posting we’re 46% of the way to Target One with a little over 10 days to go.
You have until next Thursday 25 September to pledge your support. Please consider.
Articles
The Weekly Cybers didn’t appear this week due to the above-mentioned illness, but you’re more than welcome to subscribe for FREE so you get the next one.
You can read my previous writing at Authory, where you can also subscribe to an email compilation of any new stories each Sunday morning.
Corporate Largesse
- As a journalist I scored free attendance at the Influencing Live conference on Thursday, although I had to leave at lunchtime because I fell ill. Which is a shame, because there were some great sessions.
Podcasts, Photos, Videos, Media Appearances
None of these, although you’ll see below there’s plenty of podcasts coming up. You can subscribe to my YouTube channel to be notified when new videos appear and when livestreams are scheduled.
Some Interesting Links
- The unblinking Patrick Boyle is particularly snarky this week as he runs through a few recent investment scams.
- I stumbled across an excellent comedy duo, Real Real Japan. Linguistics nerds will particularly like it.
- Do you like birds? Here’s a bunch of live bird video streams.
- Do you like cooking? Here’s the Wikipedia entry for futurist cooking. As in the Italian Futurists. There’s quite a bit of bullshit here, in my view.
The Week Ahead
It’s a week for catching up on all the things, so wish me luck.
On Monday I’ll ease into the week with a little client database wrangling. At lunchtime I might try to catch the Lowy Institute panel discussion, Indonesia’s next chapter: Governance, leadership and reform, although I’ll probably leave it until later. This is why they’re recorded, after all.
Tuesday through Thursday sees a mix of podcast post-production and client work. There’s one episode each of The 9pm Edict and Another Untitled Music Podcast in post-production, and I’ll probably publish them in that order.
I return to the Blue Mountains on Thursday afternoon.
On Friday it’s The Weekly Cybers newsletter as usual, and then I’m recording a podcast with Scottish author and social researcher David F Porteous, who’s been on the pod many times. If you’re a supporter with a TRIGGER WORD or CONVERSATION TOPIC for this episode, please let me know by 4pm AEDT that day. The finished episode will be posted on Saturday evening.
The 9pm Edict and Another Untitled Music Podcast are supported by the generosity of their listeners. Please consider supporting this season’s crowdfunder.
If you miss the deadline of 25 September, or if you prefer not to use Pozible, you might still like to throw a few coins into the tip jar directly or subscribe for special benefits. There’s also some specific benefits for supporting AUMP.
