My week of Monday 17 to Sunday 23 November 2025 was another busy one. More podcasts were recorded, but they’re taking their time to be extruded from the queue. Your patience is welcomed. Have a butcherbird!
Podcasts
- On Tuesday I recorded an episode of The 9pm Edict with infectious diseases physician and medtech nerd Dr Trent Yarwood, who’s been on the pod before. This will be posted mid next week.
- AUMP 00005: Their Only Good Song, being another episode of Another Untitled Music Podcast, recorded last Sunday and posted on Wednesday.
- Sunday Single: Jesse Saunders: On & On, recorded and posted on Sunday. And I just noticed that a music track featuring a Roland TR-808 is being highlighted in Weekly Wrap 808. Spooky.
ANNOUNCEMENT: Another Untitled Music Podcast is now available on YouTube, and because YouTube has its own music licenses it’s available there in nearly every country — apart from Russia and sometimes Belarus.
The 9pm Edict and Another Untitled Music Podcast are supported by the generosity of you, their listeners. Please consider supporting them. You can to throw a few coins into the tip jar directly or subscribe for special benefits. There’s also some specific benefits for supporting AUMP.
Articles
- The Weekly Cybers #94. Twitch added to the social media age restrictions just 19 days before they start, platforms to get a Digital Duty of Care, courts overwhelmed with AI garbage, and much more.
You can read my previous writing at Authory, where you can also subscribe to an email compilation of any new stories each Sunday morning.
Photos, Videos , Media Appearances, Corporate Largesse
None of these. You can subscribe to my YouTube channel to be notified when new videos appear and when livestreams are scheduled — although it’s been ages since I did one.
Some Interesting Links
- A topical video to begin with. History YouTubers Lord HardThrasher (England) and History of Everything (Australia) explain What The Hell Is Cricket and Why Do The Ashes Matter?
- From The Observer, “‘We’re the oldest surviving mammalian lineage’: my week as a short-beaked echidna“.
- Sharath from Building Beautifully says Sydney’s Public Transport is pretty great, actually, and he’s correct.
- “Can you guess the distance between Australian cities? It’s not as easy as you think.”
- A curious little tune from Mudd the Student of Korea’s Balming Tiger, 123. I love the old 16 mm footage.
- How do you fire someone into the Sun?
The Week Ahead
On Monday I’ll edit and post the podcast with Peter Anderson. Promise.
On Tuesday I’m heading down to Sydney for the Influencing Christmas Party, my first for the year. They do a lot of work with technology journalists, so it’ll be a handy networking opportunity as well as a chance to have a drink or possibly two.
[Update 24 November 2025: Inserting a Sydney trip solely for a drinks event was a bit ambitious for this week. I’ve far too many other things to get done.]
On Wednesday I’ll edit and post the podcast with Dr Trent Yarwood.
On Thursday morning I’m recording an episode of The 9pm Edict with digital rights enthusiast Justin Warren, who’s been on the pod before. If you’re a supporter with a TRIGGER WORD or CONVERSATION TOPIC for this episode, please let me know by 10am AEDT that day, Thursday 27 November. This episode will be edited and posted early the following week.
On Friday I’ll produce The Weekly Cybers newsletter as usual.
Saturday will be yet another day down in Sydney, assisting with the apartment hunting. Snarky Platypus and I will also record a full episode of Another Untitled Music Podcast to be posted on Monday, probably.
Further Ahead
- ATARASHII GAKKO!,
Hordern PavilionUNSW Roundhouse, Sydney, 4 December 2025. This Japanese group is well worth exploring. I’m not sure who I’m taking to this gig yet. Make me an offer. And to be clear, while I still haven’t decided on a co-conspirator for the night, I’ve have bought tickets. - Takashi Wakasugi Work In Progress, Factory Theatre, Sydney, 5 December 2025. He’s also doing a show on 6 December.
