Perhaps someone at Skype can explain why the new Mac version wastes 3x the screen real estate on the user list with no new value. Arsehats.
@thepatus Thanks for fixing arseh.at so quickly. Much appreciated. My world has returned to normal. Well, as normal as it gets.
My SEKRIT lunch with @BernardKeane is over, and I’ve checked in to my SEKRIT overnight Sydney accommodation. Relax, then finish the podcast.
OH: “The Wiggles? Oh I’m sick of them. I used the like them, but that dinosaur! Yuck!” [This woman is long past child-bearing age…]
OH, Blue Mountains matron: “Television? Oh never! Some people watch ‘Days of Our Lives’ forever and ever and they end up like zombies!”
However this one was, for me, the best one ever. “In a properly run state…” http://bit.ly/fOA3WR
“Lawyers and civil servants are particularly addicted to the practice. I suppose we could sew them in a sack and drop them in the sea…”
I always like @johnemcintyre’s proposals dealing with problems, such as people who write using unknown abbreviations. http://bit.ly/i3rEkH
New blog post: “Sydney, Gold Coast for Kickstart, Sydney” http://bit.ly/fAEPab Essentially my movements for the next week explained.
Crossing the Nepean. Not quite the Rubicon, but it’ll do.
I have decided. Thank you everyone for your suggestions and dice-rolling.
@life42 Haven’t been to The Rose of Australia for ages. I see over-primped wash-ins infesting the footpath tables and avoid.
@purserj Oddly enough, I didn’t bring dice of any kind on this journey, let alone 12-sided ones. Still a decision has been made, thanks.
Technology Park Hotel looks good too, @alanjlee. Now, to decide. I suspect some coin-tossing will happen shortly. Anyone got a 3-sided coin?
The Alexandria Hotel, you say @domknight @F_Dewar? The kid/pet friendly isn’t important today but food looks OK. http://bit.ly/blk576 Ta.
I haven’t been to the Erko for ages, though I remember it as a good, friendly working-class pub. Ta for that suggestion, @life42
Can anyone recommend a good 2pm pub lunch in, say, Alexandria through to Mascot or Botany? I’m not precious about this sort of thing.
@jstogdill Agreed, voice was a major change. I find the history of those Atlantic cables fascinating.
@jstogdill Erm, the first transatlantic cable was laid in 1858. The one in 1956 was the first voice phone, tho there was radio before that.
Mobile: Starting back to Sydney, mainly ‘cos it’s an early flight to Gold Coast tomorrow. A shame. It’s nice in the Blue Mountains today.
@thepatus Houston, we have a problem. It appears that arseh.at is down. At least it’s unreachable from where I am.
@franksting I should be in Sydney Wed thru Fri, accommodation prices permitting. Digital Directions 2011 on Thu certainly. Stand by.
@kim_weatherall I’m guessing #iitrial will end up in the High Court ‘cos AFACT has shown no signs of backing down.
I’m at Kickstart Forum on the Gold Coast Sun-Mon http://www.kickstartforu… I assume #ks11 is the hashtag, since it was #ks10 last year?
Sat plan, unordered: Complete “Patch Monday” podcast; return to Sydney; SEKRIT lunch with @BernardKeane; writing; prepare for Gold Coast.
Visitors last evening were a crimson rosella http://bit.ly/pNFIx random gawkers from another cottage and an Antechinus http://bit.ly/grWrvV
And here’s Saturday already. You people have no idea.
